We have a shop like that in Torquay but they charge extortionate amounts for it all. I'm not going to pay £7 for a box of cereal, no matter how lucky it is.

Well, the grass is always greener on the other side of the fence. All that stuff in the American sweet shop is junk. Born and raised USA and I won't eat that stuff. I use to, some of it, but I don't any more. Twinkies! I can't remember the last time I ate a Twinkie. It is just bleached white flour, sugar and corn syrup. That's the cake, no telling what the filling is, pure concentrated refined white sugar probably. Refined white sugar and corn syrup are bad news, and all that food is full of it. You're lucky it is all expensive, that way you won't be eating it much.

Get some Funyuns. I cannot, for the life of me, fathom the idea that other people around the world, not just to mention people from our country haven't even heard of them, it's ridiculous. I've lived and died on Funyuns.

What this guy said and then some.

Reese's Peanut Butter Cups, Three Musketeers, Ande Mint Thins, those Home Run Pies and Symphony bars are pretty much the only US sweets I like/liked.

Do you have Dr. Pepper in the UK?

You should try it. It is the beverage of the gods.

Well, now I want to taste chocolate from the UK our chocolate can't be that much worse.

Oh god, it is. I recommend Cadburys. The downside is that European candy is neglected and is mostly generic chalky crap.

You know not all chocolate in America is made by Hershey's right? It's a pretty big place and I'd be willing to bet there are lots of local confectionaries that only sell to a single state or region, hell I know of a few around me.

I'm very aware. Haven't even had Hershey's in a long time, and I'm always looking for new stuff.

I used to work in a little independant chocolate shop. From my experience, the American chocolate was the worse tasting. Though I remember acquiring a taste for York Mint Patties (they were hella expensive for what they were). Jelly Belly were great also.

The French, Swiss and Belgians (Leonidas chocolate is fantastic) make some fine stuff, though.

We have all those. When I was 5 I found a Gobstopper on the floor...I swallowed it and choked. Key thing is...this was under a car..I was all alone choking on it. Survived! It could have just been a plastic ball....

Yes we have Dr Pepper. I dont love it, however I can drink it.

So...i didnt buy anything...instead I walked into a shop to buy a drink and found decent priced Reeses pieces and Reeses cups...eating the Reese pieces now.

However I did drink some Bob Marley Mellow Mood Berry drink.

I loved those as a kid :D Technically it isn't an American candy, but Zotz are about as good if the US shop there has em.

@ShalashaskaUK666: You've probably had them, but I recommend swedish fish. I am firm in the belief that they are the best year-round candy in the world. (Not really American, though)

Next, caramel apple candy corn. The only candy corn that is worth eating, or tolerable, in my opinion. Although here in the states they're seasonal for Halloween only, usually.

Barring availability of those, I dunno, most regular american candy is kind of crappy. The best american specific candy ever (Wonka's Oompas, which was basically a hard shell starburst, but using the flavoring from lollipops), was discontinued. So I go with Terry's Chocolate Orange (originally from the UK, if I remember right), or orange Cadbury Cream Eggs (definitely from the UK).
