Where's my ad? I'm pro-gay, but anti-marriage
Man, Colbert isn't missing a beat. I was wondering when somebody was gonna poke fun at that commercial.
"what is it wrong to be anti-gay?"Why is it wrong to be Anti-Semitic?---Answer to your question right there.
Sorry for bumping this thread, but it's related.
It seems as if the same people who did the real ad, sent a thank you letter to Colbert for his supposed support. It seems as if this anti-gay group does not comprehend parody and sarcasm. Oh I rejoice in this story, I laughed at this story. I mean, I literally shit my pants laughing.
Homophobic people have a fear of the different and that includes anyone who isn't a member of the majority classifications, which in this country would be white straight christians therefore some fear gays, some fear non whites, some fear jews or muslims and some fear all 3. You see it evidenced by the number of guns they buy as well as their public nonsensical hate for minority groups. Freud I think would have a field day on those people.

I literally jumped out of my seat when I read that.
Someone once told me that an ad is successful if a person remembers it, regardless of it's context.
In this case though: The context of the ad itself is so polarized, fear mongering, and bigoted any positive outcome is highly unlikely. If you're anti-gay, I would assume at this point after several previous huge gay marriage political entanglements: you've haven't been silent.
I await Colbert's response. He doesn't even have to make comedic material for this:
All he has to do is sit in front of the camera and say that the group that he mocked to the point of irrelevance, is now congratulating him for showing clips from their commercial.
It's like if CNBC congratulated The Daily Show. Just goes to show you that ignorance doesn't just stop at ideals.
regarding their other commercial where they say that gay marriage is scary for children
I think the bible should be forbidden to people younger than 15 years old,
many children become scared and sad of what is written in the bible. Its a mean old book that suggests you should do mean things to other people.
This bit is awesome. ^_^
edit: Homophobes are way more hilarious than the gay friend in TV and movies ever was.
"I think gay are pretty cool, they get married in iowa and doesn't afraid of anything."I agree.
"regarding their other commercial where they say that gay marriage is scary for childrenI think the bible should be forbidden to people younger than 15 years old, many children become scared and sad of what is written in the bible. I'm pretty sure children are 'indoctrinated' in whatever dogma their parents lay down, even atheism. That's why they're called children. Highly influential, not responsible for their actions, etc. But it doesn't matter, this generation has internet access. Whether they want exposure to reality or not, they're bound to find it even if they're seeking out peers in an ignorant outlook. So the old people will die and gays will get married and kids will hopefully believe something because its right for them, not because they're born into it.
So long as the immortality serum doesn't come out soon. Hold up on that shit another 30 years and let the last throws of steadfast ignorance die off first.
Did anyone see Bill O' Reilly's show yesterday? He commented on Colbert's fake anti gay ad in his "reailty check" segment. I don't know where I'd get a clip of that but it was pretty weird.
First of all, what the hell is Bill O' Reilly talking about a show on Comedy Central for?! He thinks he's so smart when he takes pot shots at John Stewart and Steven Colbert. Does he not realize those shows are meant for entertainment and laughs, unlike his show which is meant for misery and retards.
Second, he basically says Gays and Gay supporters are going to hell. I know some people feel this way and I suppose that's their right to think that but to say it on National TV? It seems un-professional.
Then right after his talk about Colbert he then talks about the U.N. (and something else, I wasn't paying very close attention at this point) and basically says it's a joke and useless. Yes, because uniting the nations of the world is pretty silly. What fools! Hahahaha
I guess that just adds to my hate of him.

Isn't O'Reilly's show the most watched cable show ever? If all O'Reilly has to do is be crazy and controversial and BAM! number 1, baby. So I wouldn't try to rationalize him and his thoughts, and just accept the fact he's just out of his mind.
I've got 2 questions about this "anti-gay" ad though.
1. Is this a regular thing in the U.S? To just make a ad against a minority? Are fascist groups (let's face it, this NOM group is fully fascist) just going "You know what, I think Mexicans suck, let's make an ad campaign against them."?
2. Isn't this in violation of Humanitarian rights? Is it actually legal to actively try to limit people's rights?
Sadly in the U.S. the Christian Right still has a huge influence in our politics. And... well you know what comes with that, the mixing of church and state is not pretty in most cases.
I think some people are missing the point, its not that Stephen Colbert is anti-gay, its that hes pro gay marriage, if you have ever watched his show you would know that he has a very republican persona but the way he acts and speaks about his "beliefs" are usually in a mocking manner.
Also! Let us not forget Baby Carrots, They are trying to turn him gay.

Yes, if someone made a ad saying mexicans are bad I think that might be illegal or at least would cause an uproar but the whole gay issue is a religious thing so that makes it alright. Yeah, I know. That's some great logic. They think it's wrong so they need to make everyone else think the same way.
