What were your thoughts after seeing the movie Up?
Did you like it?
Or not?
What did really make an impression on you?
For me though the beginning is really cool and emotional, but the movie is too fantastic to take it as seriously as to take something out of it.
It was a bit overhyped in my opinion.
And for you?
Up - A good or a bad animation movie?
Great film.
The beginning and ending are phenomenal achievements in animated story telling.
The middle is a entertaining buddy action-adventure comedy, but nothing extremely special.
I don't think it was overhyped because the people I talked to enjoyed it a ton, but weren't blown away by it.
As I stand, I think it's the best animated film I've seen this year (though I need to see Fantastic Mr. Fox among others before I can confirm that) & one of Pixar's best, but it's not one of the best animated films of all time...at least not yet.
Though I plan to see the film again sometime soon, so I can see whether or not my opinion changes.
I really enjoyed it. I can't think of a single movie or short feature that Pixar has done that I haven't enjoyed.
I think it's the best film Pixar has made... It deals with some heavy themes and I was really quite touched by it... I didn't care too much for all the shenanigans in the jungle but it is a kids movie and where most cartoons has silly gags around a superfluous story, this movie used the gags in a setting with a very powerful message.
It was good, though overrated. I had very high expectations (97% metascore, people raving about how fantastic it was), and I was disappointed. It was a generic kid-friendly family movie, albeit a good one, but not groundbreaking in any respect.
I would like to find the few critics who gave Up a bad review (Stephanie Zackareck, I'm looking at you!!!) and kick them in their puss-bleeding twats!

" ... I thought that many of the jokes were like something I'd find in Dreamworks movie. "That's a pretty vicious insult.
I thought it was astoundingly good. Pixar never seems to fail to make meaningfully, ageless and thoroughly entertaining films.
Up was an amazing movie to me. Pixar managed to wow me twice recently with Wall-E and Up, both of which rank right up there with Toy Story and Toy Story 2 as my favorite Pixar movies.
" @Twilight said:Don't get me wrong. It was way above Dreamworks standards. But I didn't really find the movie as funny as many of Pixar's other movies. It was quite emotional in the beginning. And the action was good. Some of the jokes were good but some of them weren't that good in my opinion. Like the "squirrel" joke. It got old after I saw it in the trailer once. Although I will admit I laughed when all the dogs in the aeroplanes messed up because of the squirrel." ... I thought that many of the jokes were like something I'd find in Dreamworks movie. "That's a pretty vicious insult. "
