What is your favorite genre of music?
Metal, but I listen to a lot of different stuff these days (Odd Future hasn't left my car stereo in some time now). Metal is great because it's extremely diverse with so many different sub genres.
Buncha fucking Metal heads. >:/
I like "Techno" though. Trance specifically. Here area few ofmy favorites.

Metal and video games go hand in hand, they both tend to attract basement dwellers.
I answered with I'll listen to anything. I mainly listen to rock and metal, but I grew up listening to country and pop music. In the past few years I've gotten into indie music, and recently I've been getting into electronic music. I've been trying to get into rap for some time now too. I like a good bit of it, but I'm still trying to find something that really clicks with me.
Genre doesn't matter as long as the song is good, but I default to rock (any type, really: hard, soft, metal, whatever).
As an aside: It blows my mind when people say they don't listen to music that much or at all. I'm not passing judgment, I just can't fathom life without music.
I don't think there should be a poll because there are a ridiculous amounts of genres and amalgamations.
My favorite is pop-punk.
Ha. I suppose that's true.@Loose said:

There's a difference between Pretentious Dick and open minded. You hang out with bad people.
I don't have a favourite as I will listen to all music of any genre and give it a fair chance to impress me. Unless it's rap/hip hop. That stuff is crap and I have never liked any of it. Well, I have kind of, sort of, in a way, but not really, enjoyed a couple songs, but out of all the genres Rap/Hip Hop is the one genre that I just can't stand listening to. Most of it.
EDIT:Actually, I take that back. The one genre of music I can't stand more then any other is that screaming shit. It literally just sounds like loud noises to me. I always forget to add that when people make this thread every few days because I don't even consider it music so it never comes to mind.
I wasn't too sure about this song during the "YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGH" line, but when he started talking about "AAAAAAAAARGLEBARGLEGRAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH", I was instantly won over. Not enough musicians take a stance on touchy issues like GRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGH and HRRRRRRRRRNNNNNNGHHHH.
:P
Don't have an answer for you, my taste is quite varied.
Just commented to point out that 'one of the my favourite' genres and arguably one of the most creative, expressive genres in music is not mentioned in the poll, Jazz.
Heck if I know.
I've got plenty of musical equipment and instruments, and that is what I end up creating.
Really is my kind of genre.
Metal. I've tried other stuff, I just don't like it. Can't get into it. No big deal though, different strokes and all that shit.
My favorite is probably instrumental (no lyrics) music and soundtracks/scores. I think I like music without lyrics because it is easier to put your own feelings and meanings behind the music. However, lately I've been listening to a lot of industrial rock & metal.
I've gone thru all kinds of music phases but I ended up back with rock/metal. When I started playing guitar it gave me a whole new appreciation of that music genre. Triplet strumming and gallop rhythms sound cool and are actually pretty difficult to do well & fast.
I like some blues guitar stuff too. classical isn't bad for tedious driving around town. techno has kind of lost it's luster after learning more about how it's constructed. Some of it just sounds good though, mostly because of custom samples and instruments (Angel Spit, KMFDM)
