What's with all the sudden followers?

I took me forever to get the 25 followers for that Quest. And after that, it petered out. Just about nothing.  
 
Then, this week, I got about twenty or thirty something followers. My question is, why? I never post anything of any value. Are people that desperate for that follow X number of people Quest? (Actually, I was).  
 
Wait, why am I complaining? Go ahead people, keep on following!

Yep, it's that "Have 5 people you follow on at the same time as you" quest they are going for.

Yeah I got a lot of followers too- which is awesomely awesome! 

i went from 93 to 158 in one day. just for one little quest. and mostly by people who never post.

People love completing quests.
