Yeah, to reiterate the main thesis of the past hundred posts, there are so many guitarists worth mentioning, it's not even funny.
My personal favorite is certainly Buckethead. Actually just saw the man play about two weeks ago. Incredible, incredible show.
But he's got a certain emotional spectrum that his music covers, even the non Avant-Garde compositions. And there are times--ranging from days to weeks--when that spectrum doesn't address my hunger for a certain style of play. For that, there are guitarists like Josh Homme, whose pounding riffs are always, always fucking satisfying.
ugh. sure he's uncredibly fast but he really has no feel and he is the cockiest motherfuckin guitarist alive. his lesson vids are basically him showing off. hes an asshole and he has no creative talent whatsoever. Steve Vai shits on him. just listen to him play blues, its terrible. he just shreds on blues scales. he has no idea how to groove. i bet he sounds retarded if he tried playing jazz.
All of these polls need an "other" option. Secondly, its Tom Morello not "Morollo" its also who I cast my vote for. Its either him or Hendrix, the both of them kinda re-invented guitar.
justin king, hands down. the guy does this amazing two handed tapping on acoustic guitar, i find it infinately more musical than your standard plank wanking speed soloist.
