@bunnyboiler: One of the main reasons I hate him is because I work at BestBuy. My department sits under the Tvs that play music videos all day. I hear snippets from his songs about 50 times a day minimum, and it doesn't help that he kinda sucks to begin with. (in my personal opinion)
I don't care about people being successful, I just hate people who become successful by entertaining the tween audience, known for their bad and easily manipulated taste in music, with bad and shallow music.
No, I'm sure most people think of his personality and attitude in a negative way. That's probably why they don't like him. Personally I want to say I as well don't like him from what I've seen. He's not the type of person I'd hang out with. Then again, since I don't care for him, I also know little about him nor watch any of his stuff, or news about him, so I wouldn't really know. I once saw how he talks to his fans, it's one of those moments where it'd make someone want to puke because he talks to them like a little queer. No offense. I think if anyone was jealous of him, they'd be idiots as well. And if people "hate" him, they're stupid too.
I don't understand it, I doubt I ever will. My assumption is that it's jealousy, that a kid like him gets laid more than the entire forums combined. People around here act like they're being forced to listen to his music.
I'm not jealous. I hate him because he doesn't really have any particular talent and can still manage to make a career off of it. That doesn't apply to him only, though. Same reason I hate, say, Owl City. Or Lady Gaga.
To be honest, he isn't really that talented, yet the mainstream finds him brilliant which has made him famous. People are jealous only because he got rich and famous for something that lots of people can do way better and just didn't go for it.
I wish Justin Bieber no ill will. Justin's music is not my cup of tea so I don't listen to it. He seems like a nice kid and good for him for making money in a dying industry.

I'm pretty sure it's the same reason people hated boy bands in the 90s the music isn't good but the popularity is so rediuclous it just leaves people baffeled and angry. Though some good things have come from him, like this:
