Anyway, this is probably a combination of their programmers speaking bad English and computers being, well, computers and not humans. You could put all the subtle rules and nuances of a language in a computer that you want to but it still won't ever be able to make a sentence as well as a human being who practices the language in question. It will always sound off, even if it is mostly correct.
Note that by "practices" I don't just mean "speaks and writes bad Facebook posts". I mean, can actually read and write it properly and well.

Most spam messages are randomly stitched together by a method called spinning.
Example: {Hey|Hello|Howdy|You there|Hey fucker}, you {should|might want to|must|have to} {buy|purchase|get in on this|get naked for} this {product|item|game|single ladies in your area|stuff}{!|.|!!!|?|!!1!}
Each word separated by | in each bracket gets randomly selected, point is to randomly generate differing coherent sentences, without leaving a noticeable footprint of a common line of text. Most of the time though people don't put much effort into them or go a little overboard, so what started off as a coherent sentence, will sometimes result in an incoherent spin. And to top it off, most of the time the people writing these are outsourcers from places like the Philippines.

This mostly just applies to the kind of heavy text based spam you'd find on forums or social networks though. The kind of stuff you see on GiantBomb comments that's just a single simple obvious spam line and a bunch of links is most likely just a copy+paste job being run by a bot. You'd also be surprised how much well made spam is out there that people don't recognize as spam and flies under the radar.
@ExiledVip3r: I've seen some pretty advanced spam here on Giant Bomb over the course of the last few years, it's interesting to watch their techniques develop and adapt as time goes by.
One time the spammer was so clever and articulate, I almost felt obligated to go to the spammer's site and buy Cialis as sort of a professional courtesy.

I'm still kind of amazed the spambot operation is sophisticated enough to get through the captcha on sign-up. It'd be pretty impressive if the goal of it wasn't just to crap up the site by trying to get video game fans to stream Twilight films. Probably the most interesting are the ones that actually respond to users and leave you guessing whether they're actually a bot or just a person with terrible English.
@Gamer_152: Captcha's mean absolutely nothing these days, there is captcha solving API services out there that will solve 1000's of captcha's for just a couple bucks, Google deathbycaptcha if you don't believe me.
Most bot programs will use some solvers API. The only thing a captcha really does now is filter out the cheap massive spam campaigns that don't bother with captcha as they aren't really even trying to slip by, just to get a couple wayward clicks before deletion, or get on an unmonitored/dead message board for the SEO backlink value.
GiantBomb is heavy enough traffic though that I'd wager the really intricate spam your seeing is an actual person. A high value target site with major traffic usually warrants something with more finesse than bots.

I was aware that there were means out there to bypass capthca, but the fact that those means exist is still pretty crazy to me, and I wasn't aware they were that easy to get hold of or used by most of the bots out there. And again, nuts that Giant Bomb is considered a valuable target by the people behind bots that are trying to do things like sell dresses.
Also, this is something I know the mod team has said so many times before, but please people, do not reply to the spam bots.
