Thanks guys. I am familiar with a number of these names. Some I like a lot, some not as much (just recently getting into Atmosphere in particular, and I'm enjoying their stuff quite a bit), but there are definitely some names here that are new to me and I'll be checking out." @matrix_hiei said:

what does it matter? im just gonna say : rock and metal music, and nobody even notices what other people say 'cept if its funny/witty ...
P.S. i know your type of music fans, that mixture of poppish rock and indie and pop .. makes me sick in my stomach cuz the few people i knew who liked that cocktail were totally unpleasant and had something up their pee holes.
" disturbed, korn, slipknot, aerosmith, mcr and other rockit's like every time someone mocks hip hop,, they're required by law to also list thier favorite bands, and have them be laughably bad, or even vaguely hip hop influenced themselves.
"
Anyway.
most of what i listen too is (gasp) hip hop, soul, blues and folk, favorite acts:
Gnarls Barkley
The Roots
Tom Waits
The Fugees and all related solo artists (did prazwell ever do a solo album?)
Mos Def
Bruce Springsteen
Dela Soul
Tupac (cliche!)
Mice Parade
Common
A Tribe Called Quest
Jackie Wilson
old Snoop
old Ice Cube
Guy Davis
Eryka Bhadu
Ottis Redding
Alternative, post-punk, garage revival rock. I mostly listen to The Strokes and Arctic Monkeys. But there are dozens of other bands and singers of other genres I listen to.
Black metal: Mayhem, Darkthrone, Akercocke, Enslaved, Satyricon, Rotting Christ, Gorgoroth
Thrash metal: Municipal Waste, Slayer, Sepultura, Evile, Kreator, Megadeth, Bison
Death metal: Cannibal Corpse (Corpsegrinder, motherfuckers), Death, Behemoth, Bloodbath, Nile, Opeth, Gojira
I will conclude this post with a video from Kathaarsys; a progressive metal band from Spain. [Those who don't generally listen to metal may like this one!]
I'll listen to whatever reflects my mood at the time. I can't definitely say pop because when I'm in a bad mood I really don't want to listen to Christina Aguilera warbling in my ear , I want James Hetfield getting aggro. Although, Metallica seems to match all my moods, happy or vengeful.
If I had to pick a type though .. I'd say anything that makes me feel like getting up and boogieing down. Nothing like some McHammer to brighten up the world, eh?

Your welcome =) But yeah it is a bit hard to find the talented rappers, but there are a lot of good Underground-rappers. Gotta add two more =P Talib Kweli and Novel. Talib has been on a Kanye album, and some others stuff, so he is a pretty well-known rapper. Novel has proven on his latest EP, that he can do both rap, soul and that kinda stuff, a really cool dude =)

" Post-Rock. To me, everything else is cliche, banal, predictable -- pre-determined by templates, words, constraining singularity. Post-Rock is the universe outside of the hook and chorus planetary system. Post-Rock is the space between your toes and pressure in your ears, the power welling up your spine, the blurring colors of the world when you spin. Post-Rock is life. "I think post rock has gotten pretty generic. Unless you can recommend me some bands that don't follow the quiet-loud-quiet scheme.
Recent efforts by Mogwai and Sigur Ros have done a bit to bend the genre in new, exciting ways. But, like any budding "indie" substratum, the majority of aspiring Post-Rock groups are all carbon copies of their inspirations. The low-brow, unsigned or small label Post-Rock bands all stick pretty closely to the "crescendocore" formula, while the high-end, established groups are doing really magnificent things with the niche space they've been given.
