HI! my 120 gig classic ipod bit the dust the other day (maybe you remember me asking for help here to fix it) well after dealing with apple support im kinda turned off to apple products at the moment.. i was hoping i could get some owners of both produtcs to talk the pro's and cons of the zune and ipod. with my next pay check i plan on buying one of them. is there some one here who owned an ipod all they're life, then switched to zune and never looked back? or has someone here tried the zune, but still feels its no match for the mighty ipod? any help or thoughts would be great!

Ipod is still regarded by many as the better of the two. They are probably right, but I didn't like the problems my friends had with theirs so I got a zune. Works fine, good for what I need it for. I know I'm not really selling it for you, but I just use mine to play music and it does that, haha. I also wanted it to last, and my zune protective case does that haha. Sorry...

Marketplace? No idea what you're talking about. I go to this one place called a store. I drive there and buy all the music I want. Guess it takes a smartass to know one...hehe.

I like the iPods, i have had a G5. And now a 80 GB Classic, which i have had for around two years now i think. Battery is still keeping power, never had a  problem. And i use for at least 3-4 hours a day.

I went from 8 tracks to CD players to PSP's  to Zunes.  I associate iPod's with Apple computers, which are for old people who want to look at underaged chinese porn sites without getting viruses. I don't want to be part of that crowd.

I got an iPhone so I need not a Zune.  Once Zune has phone support and OSX support, I'll be interested.

Also I should mention that I'm still really pissed off about LIVE anywhere not existing yet and the fabrications about ZUNE games being identical to XBLA and even being able to go on LIVE an compare POINTS with my friends on the go. Instead all we have is Hexic and some other crap. (Getting achievement points on the go was the reason I bought a Zune in the first place, I never would have purchased a Zune if I had not been lied to about LIVE anywhere) Still a solid peice of hardware and software regardless though.

I have a Zune 120 and it works perfectly.  The Zune pass is great as well, I love being able to go onto the marketplace and get any songs I want.  Not to mention all Zune songs are 192 kb/s.

I have an iPod, and I am a Mac user.  However I have nothing against the Zune.  I think it looks pretty cool.

Zune 80 and I'm in the UK with it. Pretty good, prefer to it an iPod even if its just because iTunes deleted over 35 gig of my music once. Now if only they would lets us login in the UK

The Wife has and Ipod.  I have a Zune.  She likes my Zune better.  I agree.

The Marketplace is actually fantastic for buying music.  All the songs are MP3 and DRM-free which means I don't have to deal with Amazon's wonky software downloader.  Videos can be hit or miss but they have a decent amount of content.  The content also now share's the same storefront as the XBOX360 so Videos can be easily watched anywhere you are.  The Zune Software is outstanding and imo puts Itunes to shame.

At the end of the day though Apple has more content and a mass following (even if it's not wholely deserved) so you'll see a lot more support from the mainstream media.

I like the Zune software a lot more than iTunes.  I'm debating between buying a iPod touch or Zune hd.  If the Zune had a Youtube app it would make the decision a lot easier.

I have both. Lost my ipod a year ago, got a Zune, then my mom found the ipod and brought it out to me a few weeks ago.

I like the Zune better for pretty minor reasons. The Zune software looks nicer, and it comes with a built in FM radio, which is great because I'm in NYC and listen to news etc. pretty frequently while on the go. Honeslty thinking about giving the ipod away.

Have had numerous iPods and now an iPhone, none broke just upgraded and sold off the older model. No experience with the Zune however. If you own a 360 i'd give the Zune HD a look for maybe.

I got the Zune when it first came out and they had a ton of hiccups when I had one. Like since it was synced to my Live account it wouldn't let me log in and I called and emailed Microsoft for about 2 months before they finally fixed the problem. Or just nit syncing the songs I download or downloading an album 5 times. Idk if they've really fixed a lot of these yet but I've had a much better time with my Ipod Touch.

Since the Zune isn't available here, I'm gonna say the iPod. Shame since the Zune HD seems pretty sweet!

The 8 gig Zune I got a year ago has been rock solid, and a lot more stable than my 30 gig 5th generation ipod. I'm guessing partly because the Zune I happen to have is solid state. I also like the ui a lot, lot better.

I have an iPhone so I don't need an iPod anymore but I would pick an iPod over a Zune.

I've got an iPod 120gb, my cousin has a Zune 120gb. They both seem great, they both get the job done, but I personally prefer iPod, maybe because I just like to flip though all of the album covers in that book style, and keep all of my 100gb of music neatly organized.

I've got an 80GB ipod. It's the cheapest MP3 player I could get with a decent size memory (or at least it was when I bought it). I hate iTunes, but I can put up with it. The price is far more important to me.

Well, you could buy a Zune HD which has better games and will probably get some kind of "Live" support patched in later. But buying a Zune for achievements when they don't even exist yet was kinda dumb on your part. You can't really blame Zune for that one.

@Jackel2072:
Anyways, to give my testimony: I had an old ipod back in the day when the click wheel was new. That was all good, but it broke. I ended up buying a Zune because I liked the social aspect of it and a couple of the extra features that ipod didn't have, like radio for example. Anyways, you should check out the Zune Social stuff. It's pretty cool to find similar listeners based on the songs you've played and have them on your friend list. You can even listen to anything they have currently listened to. If you don't own the song it's just the 30 second clip, but still cool.

I used a friends zune and didn't like it as much as my iPod, granted I only used it 15 minutes.  I've have my 30gig classic for I think over three years now, and the only problem I have is sometimes it won't turn off and I have to hold in the ceneter button and spam hold on and off and then turn it off, which is not really much of a hassle.  I sleep with it every night, and usually wake up on top of it, and I'm a big man, so I would say it's quite high quality.
