Was anticipating some actual opinions on the matter, but eh.
Here's some actual relevant thoughts: If you want to see if the show itself can survive a modern viewing outside of the more than decade old visual effects, watch the Rebuild of Evangelion movies and make your opinions from that as it maintains the overall themes of the original series (at least across the first two movies. The remaining ones have yet to be released.)
Wow. Going for the easy way out, aren't you? I know the whole "Anime is for jerks" thing is cool and all, but even as someone who really doesn't care about anime, I think Evangelion is awesome. Maybe not the Anime I would recommend to a random person off the street, but It's just violent and interesting enough to overcome its occasional bouts of cloying self-seriousness and total incomprehensibility.
On the other hand, it's those moments that make it unique. What other series do you know that ends without any sort of conclusion, instead having a full two episodes of characters spouting absolute nonsense about their weird psychoses? And of course, they tried to fix it with End of Evangelion, and that ending is somehow even more fucked up (probably due to the fact that the last 30 minutes of that film are the mental equivalent of rape).
That was fantastic. I wouldn't say, yo fuck anime. I would say, yo fuck neon genesis. I never understood its mass appeal, that show is fucking stupid. At least the movies improved some of that series' serious flaws.
Why do you think I only come on here infrequently? Because of /b/ board rejects that come on here and troll the shit out of articles like these that blatantly poke fun at not only anime, but those who enjoy it.

Really? I guess I'll have to check out his thoughts on that then. BTW, you should see his series on Baccano!, which is AWESOME to say at the very least.
I laughed. I kind of enjoyed NGE, but I can totally see why that mindfuck of a show wouldn't appeal to a lot of people. And for those of you mentioning Tom Pinchuk, that guy doesn't work in the Whiskey office. They can't just call him in for a few minute piece.
Also, your delivery is coming along. Just remember, Ryan, Brad and Jeff have come a long way since they were your age, as far as on camera performance is concerned.
@makoto_mizuhara_sakamoto: I don't know what I hate more, people whining about how much they don't like something (people saying they hate anime), or people whining about how much they hate other people whining (people who hate Evangelion for the sole reason that the main characters are "whiney" or "emo").
If you insist that "emo kids should be killed on site". Then you're no better than a person who says "anime is for jerks." This kind of unwillingness to understand anything or try to get to the bottom of things is what keeps stereotypes and misunderstandings going.
