I'm kind of sad that we dont have the ability to give posts plus/minuses anymore, though i can understand why they are gone (abusive stalkers cough cough). I hope that someday they'll come back in some shape or form. It was a good way to identify which users were being stupid or inflammatory. Anyone else going to miss the old system.
I already miss the +/- system
I guess that makes it +2. Also, I feel the same about the person who said it makes you feel special when you get some +1s on a post. It makes you feel as if you aren't actually an idiot and that you said something intelligent.
The problem is that now they'll just be tonnes more of the
"This"
Replies now. It's encouraging one word posts.
"The problem is that now they'll just be tonnes more of the"This"Replies now. It's encouraging one word posts."Just like on GameFAQs. On the Current Event message board on GFAQs, they actually started deleting posts that were simply "This^", because there's no other way to show any agreement. Apparently, the dumbass mods think that it's disruptive.
Copying this from Coonce's blog on the new Karma System found here!
Pro tip:
If you enjoyed a post or topic made by someone, send them a wall comment and express that gratitude via a short message. Or reply to their topic with a comment stating you enjoyed their earlier reply or whatever :)
If the +/- system was still around I'd give the OP a - for missing the crappy feature.
I think it's a horrible and worthless feature that only hurts internet communities. I've been on other forums that used them for a time and they never last long because the feature is dumb and horrible.
ALL HAIL OUR NEW LACK OF DUMB FEATURES!
"Copying this from Coonce's blog on the new Karma System found here!*Cartmans Voice* BUT HAAMMMMMMZZZZZZZZ! That takes too LOOOONNNNNNNGGGGGGGGGGG! MOM! CHEESY PUFFS!

Yeah, I kinda miss it as well. The minus was a bit overused, but I never saw the problem with the pluses. And I won't give a wall comment everytime someone says something funny that I think deserved a +1.

I never even noticed it was gone but now I'm sad. I loved giving people +1 and receiving +1 made me happy.
"I don't, glad to see a new alternative."As one of the top people in the forums I was really interested in what you had to say about this. Now that I read Coonce's blog it makes a little more sense to me.
I think it may be better in the long run though. Honestly, the problem is that if someone was to +1 someone, others can just neg it back down to nothing. Although it may seem unnecessary to go out of the way to post on someone's wall that you liked a reply of theirs, I think it has more meaning, plus you get to know who liked your response instead of seeing just a random "+1." It also may promote more discussion.
It's just going to take a little while to get used to it not being there anymore I think.
But now you can theoretically lose 10 karma for a single message and not be allowed to post on the site until the moderator says the message is okay. If I say "DDR is AWESOME" and 10 people dislike my post and mark it out of spite, I can't post until the moderator says that there's nothing wrong with liking DDR. Everyone else only loses 1 karma.
"That is nearly identical to what I said in the Developer Diary. But now you can theoretically lose 10 karma for a single message and not be allowed to post on the site until the moderator says the message is okay. I think it should be back, too. Having the flag option is good for actually taking care of questionable content, but +/- was fun and cool as a community mob rule way of letting each other know what posts we should see more of and what we should learn to ignore and not emulate. I think there's no harm in bringing it back so long as the flagging option and the +/- option are separate entities.

I got my last -1 last night, darn.
they could have the +/- system non-binding, just for funzes and then the new system for actually reporting bad posts
I always felt special when I got (-)s, now how will I feel special?
damn you, Mr. roger's!!! I'm not special afterall!!!!!
Yeah, the feeling I have is that "flagging" is okay, I just would like a positive implementation as well. I loved getting +1 on my posts. It made me feel special, lol. Seriously though, it was a nice touch and I would like to see them revise this system with some form of that.
"brukaoru said:Instead of having one number, you have two. One showing how many positives and other showing how many negatives. Much like urbandictionary.com:"If they do bring it back, I hope they make it so it will show how many positives and negatives it has, rather than changing just one number. "Explain a little better. I dont get it."
