Do you think the changes that were made to Gears of War 2 were necessary or not?

Do you like the changes that were made, compared to Gears 1?
yes i feel so. For example the change that when you shoot players rushing towards you it slows them down is a good change. online the shotgun was abused and overused and it made the gameplay stale and boring. the improvements should make it more enjoyable. My favorite aspect of gears had to be the single player campign i never really liked the multiplayer. I hope with the new changes that gow 2 will be far more enjoyable online.

Anyway, YES I like the changes very much, I think they are necessary. In Gears 1, if you used a lancer against someone who had a shotgun, no matter the range, that guy would just rush straight at you and blast you to bits. I really like stopping power, along with all the other new additions to the game (meat shield ftw).
From what I've seen it looks and plays the same just a little brighter which is crap i want is grey again.
I'm glad it sounds like they're making the single player more in depth and the multiplayer experience more full-featured online. I also like the tweaks they're making in multiplayer like smoke grenades knocking people over and active reloads not being one shot downs with the sniper. Also achievement tracking sounds nice.
Gears 1 online was pretty much non existent, except for the host. But, damnnnn its fun, I still play it.
Any and all improvements are a plus for me. Matchmaking, parties, better netcode, what more could you ask for?
Ya the whole a player slows down when hurt is cool, and makes sence. This will stop the whole, hurt a guy alot, only for him to shotty you in the dome. The chainsaw battles will be sick.
New achievement method will be good. Where you can only get one kill for achievement per game. It will take longer though, lets just hope none of these achievements are glitched
I like the new weapons, matching making system and being able to use enemies as shields. The increase enemies on screen makes the battles seem much more intense to me. The battles in the original mostly felt like skirmishes, which isn't bad but it gave me the impression you were a small part of a much larger war. Are the additions revolutionary? No. I wouldn't even say evolutionary. I loved Gears of War so more plus changes that keep the experience fresh are fine with me.

Yes, I like all that they're doing. But, I wish they would take out active reload for multiplayer (especially for the sniper). It's what annoyed me about Gears 1.

I never had a problem with Gears 1, Hell it's my favorite game period and I play it everyday. Tell you the truth, I love what they are doing with Gears 2. From what I heard, Gears 1 multiplayer did not end up playing out the way they wanted. Wall bouncing,Supermans,glitching and all that stuff people overuse(like me,not glitching though) should be taken out of gears 2. IMO I think alot of the serious Gears Of War players will have a hard time with GeOW2, but they will get used to it. I for one am excited because Gears really needed something else to make it fresh.
