Maps you would like remade
"canals is so underated."Really? That map has a lot of clout surrounding it. I would consider it a fan favorite amongst players in the Gears Community.
I am happy with the remake of Mansion, but I'm surprised War Machine is being excluded from the initial batch of remakes. Subway? Seriously? Do we sincerely need that back?

"Sir_Ragnarok said:I disliked all of the secondary (post-Raven Down/Old Bones) downloadble maps. They just don't play well. I think Garden and Bullet Marsh are the two weakest, mostly because their respective gimmicks felt really poorly implemented. Well, you know, like gimmicks tend to feel."N3vsta said:Nope. "mausoleum."Goddamnit. I hate you.
Haha. But, no, seriously, I have such a love/hate relationship with this map. On one hand, the general layout on the outer ring (Read: Torque Bow, Sniper Rifle quadrants) caters perfectly to the strengths of Gears's play style. On the other hand, matches often turn out to be campfests in the center, where one team decides to huddle around the Boomshot. It grows tiring very quickly.

"Escalation"Haha. I foresee myself commenting on every map suggestion that is going to arise on this thread.
While I don't know if I, personally, would bring forth Escalation as a map worthy enough to reiterate because of its playstyle alone, I do think the map is an iconic one. Mostly, this feeling stems from the fact that there isn't any other map in any other modern shooter that plays quite like Escalation. There's a good balance to it, and the layout works really well.
I guess my problem with Escalation isn't even the map itself. Rather, I dislike the way it tends to get played; oftentimes, I'll be in games where the Sniper-spawning team just camps the bottom, trying--with varying degrees of success--to pick off enemies spawning at the summit. As the former, it is an exercise in patience and relative stagnancy, and as the latter, a team is usually relegated to force their way down narrow-ass pathways, only to get riddled with sniper fire.
There's my complaint, then--Escalation was too narrow. No matter where you were, there was little chance for mobility. Too claustrophobic.
I think the five they've chosen should be fine. At this stage we don't know whether some of the new maps have a similar layout to ones before. For a little while I thought Rivers was their new Canals, but now they're bringing back Canals so... whatever!
I'm surprised they brought back Tyro instead of say, Fuel Depot. It seemed like Tyro was a popular public map but not so much a ranked one. I don't know. I was always happy to find Tyro on a ranked server but I would usually find loads of Fuel Depot games instead. Personally I think it's a decent level with neat set pieces like the train, but is it better than Fuel? To each their own. Perhaps they've made a few tweaks like in Assassination, which I don't remember anyone liking! I'm looking forward to playing a better Tyro Station.
Maybe Clock Tower could have come back, but the design of that level is so tight and simple (high sniper vs low boomer & grenades) I'm sure they've produced a better iteration with one of the new levels. That's what I'm looking forward to. Some nostalgia will be fun, but seeing similar map layouts being vastly improved upon is more exciting! For example the level with the Seeder popping out of the ground every so often reminded me of Raven Down. With a Seeder in the middle instead of the downed helicopter.
So as far as I'm concerned they've done enough bringing back these five, and now it's time to move on. Very very excited. :)
