It's still spinning as if I didn't install it. I know I did. I have deleted the install and am re-installing right now to see if it was just some weird glitch.
Anyone else have this issue with the disc still spinning despite installing the game?

How much was it spinning? The games usually spin a bit when you first start it up to verify that you have the disc. But I'll assume it's more than that
I noticed this too! I'm not sure what it's doing and I didn't reinstall anything, but it does stop after a minute or so and behave as expected.
Maybe it's to do with new Xbox anti-piracy stuff?

Yes, several minutes only, and yes it's MS's new security software that's on Gears 3 that's causing it supposedly.

That would make sense cause the same thing would happen when I installed my Halo: Reach Xbox test disc for the the new disc formatting.

Exactly what it is. I remember getting my copy of Halo Reach from MS for being in the Beta test for the new disc formats. Same thing happens with Halo Reach. The disc will spin for a few minutes after booting up then it quits and lets you play as normal.
I actually had this same issue with Alice: Madness Returns. Only the disc kept on spinning until I stopped playing. Very odd.

any source for that? It uses the same XBG3 disc format as driver san fran, space marine and dead island - I don't hear of such problema with any of those.
It seems to stop spinning after a few minutes. Usually when I'm in matchmaking.
Once stopped, it doesn't spin up again.

wait, the disc isn't supposed to spin for installed games?
No, its installed to the harddrive. You just need the disc in there for verification purposes.
I don't know if it's the case for GoW3, but I believe most games that install don't install everything. The installation feature isn't really designed to allow you to go discless so much as improve performance by splitting the work load between the disc and hard drive. Typically things like cutscenes and other lesser functions are still reliant on the disc. If the disc drive starts spinning up, typically that means one of those functions has been accessed... though who knows if Microsoft is also using disc checks as a form of drm.
