I played one of these once and it was a bunch of really fat guys moving really slowly and throwing grenades into holes.
 
I didn't like that part because the grenades were hard to aim.
 
Also all I did was stay behind cover and sometimes I would shoot a guy and then sometimes I would run my fat ass over to another cover.

It is a solid single player and cooperative experience.

You don't like cover? That's fine, I don't really care for it anymore but it was the new hotness for me with Gears 1. Gears 2 was fine. Not very interested in Gears 3.

Funny you mention that they were fat. I always thought that they were, of course, extremely buff and whatnot. But when I saw a trailer of the game last night, it hit me that these guys actually look fatter than holy high hell.

Having played 3 minutes of Gears of War in my lifetime, all I can say is, the shooting is fantastic, and I want a lancer.

Game is not for you, move on to other games, blah blah blah.

Because they don't focus on the Vanity your so hooked up on or a unique Grenade direction as if it's the plague of the earth. I don't own GoW3 but I am guessing that the reason they like it is because it is a uniquely solid TPS that really fleshes out what a shooter audience wants with a little flavor.

Yeah I don't get it either. I got the game today hoping I would get into it, but I just can't.

The guns are awful. Even the retro lancer feels like a pea shooter at times, there's no long range game to play either because if you down someone at long range they are likely behind cover, so they will just get revived before you can finish them off. The 'roley poley lolshotgunned' aspect of the game is also just annoying. The multiplayer is awful, at least horde is pretty decent.

The entire multiplayer aspect of the game just lends itself to stalemates, half of the time you are both behind cover taking pot shots at each other until one of you has too low health to continue, then you just wait for it to regen. It's so drab.

Edit: I did enjoy the first game as it was kinda fresh, now it's stale and cover shooting has been done to death at this point. The characters in the campaign are still boring as shit too. Ice-T put in good work, though.

Yep. I played Gears a few years ago--a few years after it came out--and Uncharted had spoiled me. The movement felt clunky, the guns lacked any real punch, the visuals were ugly, the character unlikable, and the story unforgettable. I should mention that I played through it co-op, and didn't touch the multiplayer, but based on that and the videos I've seen of Gears 2 & 3, I have to say I just don't get Gears.

They're not fat. They have very small heads for some reason.
