    Gel

Object » linked to 2 games

Gels (often presumed to be short for "gelatines") are normally items within video games that can be consumed for beneficial effects to the player, such as restored health or abilities. The method in which a character consumes a gel is often unclear.

    Short summary describing this thing.

Gels often come in varied colours and flavours. Red and green gels are commonplace.

Another more recient example of 'Gel' within a game is of a different cast. This is of course the recient addition to the Valve stable of Portal 2. Here the Gel is used not as a consumable but as a reactive substance. The Gel design (brought about by Digipen students) alters the environmental state of surfaces in the game and gives a broader range of difficulty to the test chambers and puzzles of the game. The Gel's are split into three types: Repulsion and Propulsion are the two original Tag Gel's changing the movement of the player; while the third White colour Gel changes the portal properties of surfaces itself.
