Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars Heading To PSP
I'm interested, the DS one kinda turned me off because it was still the top down GTA style game play. Hope it's good.
" Jeff said:You're missing the point. PSP Go doesn't have an UMD slot that's why PSPGO early adopters would be interested if they are releasing digitally. Then again, I think Sony said something about making the whole PSP games catalog available for digital download so it would be surprising if they didn't release it on PSN."All-new story missions, you say? OK, perhaps you've piqued my interest. The game will be out this fall, both on traditional UMD and as a newfangled digital download for all you PSPgo early adopters."Eh, the PSP has had digital download games a while now, though they weren't so aggressive in releasing them at the same time, and in fact often waited a while before doing that, but that's the only change here. I imagine it's not just for Go as standard PSPs are able to download full titles through PSN too. Why would they suddenly restrict them and only allow the Go to download them? I don't see any good reason.
" I'm interested, the DS one kinda turned me off because it was still the top down GTA style game play. Hope it's good. "Its going to be roughly the same game.
I guess this makes sense since Sony said at E3 the PSP Dev Costs dropped like 80%. So with the poor sales of the DS version, I guess Rockstart figured "eh what the hell, couldn't hurt."
Everybody talks about how badly Chinatown Wars sold on the DS, but it's actually sold a half million units, and still has strong weekly sales of over 20,000 units worldwide, 13 weeks after release.

It could very easily end up selling a million or more by the time it's been out a year. By 3rd party DS sales standards, it absolutely isn't a failure.
So it'll be just like the DS version. Except with way better graphics and none of the fun touch screen based gameplay that defined the original... so in other words this will be entirely different. I don't understand why they are doing this. Why not just come up with a new story and make an entirely different game for the PSP? They'll likely be starting from the ground up anyway, so that they can make full use of the PSP processor. Lame.
maybe rockstar should try building a new gta game that fits the console. ps2 like gta games didnt work too well, and i have no idea what chinatown wars will be like on the psp. i loved chinatown wars though and would like a version with better graphics and camera angle.
" Shame.Kinda weird too, if it didn't sell on the most popular system this generation, how's it going to sell in one of the least? "I'm willing to bet the PSP audience would prefer a GTA game, over the DS audience.
I have GTA LCS and GTA VCS for my PSP, just beat LCS, gosh, no more, I haven't even opened my copy of GTA VCS.
