I'm currently playing online and I'm having a lot of fun. Had a bounty on my head for over 2 days now, got a nice little garage and a new insured car in there.

I still managed to rank up and increase my skills, even though I was forever supposed to go to the race start. Whether my character still exists when I try again is another question entirely though haha

I was in the racing lobby for like 5 minutes and I think it went through. When it was about the start the screen froze on a blurred image of my guy just standing there. If I dashboard will the character stay saved?

Does anyone know the point at which the character stays saved?

Oh so bug fixes are confirmed? Nice.

Still, the only bug that really bothered me over my playthrough was the disappearing cars thing, and given that they've explicitly mentioned it before I'd think they'd mention when they've fixed it.

I got in and did one job for Lamar with another player.

He left, I robbed a liquor store and roamed around.

I got booted from online, and ended up back in Story mode not where I had saved and the graphics were completely screwed.

I may have been under the map.

So weird thing happened to me, I just finished the mission Wrap-up yesterday and after creating my character upon starting up GTA today, which I lost due to connection issues it dumped me back into story mode

It starts with Micheal dropping Amanda off somewhere and then Solomon calls him up, then Mike starts talking about a massive spoiler from a mission I haven't even done yet. I checked the missions screen and the mission wasn't there. I restarted the game

And checklist in the phone is gone, replaced by a Jobs list.

Is robbing liquor stores any different than how it is in the main game? I'm to believe you get a lot more cash from it at least.

So my lazy-ass decision to go with the PSN version bites me in the ass once more. 360 online seems somewhat functional in comparison to ps3

@rafaelfc: I think it's pretty screwed on Xbox too, I haven't been able to get in.

So far I, and my character (Don Marston), have been unable to get online.

I've been able to get in and dick around with freeroam which has been pretty fun, but all attempts to do jobs fail.
If I get as far as one even starting it'll automatically say "mission fail" just as the thing begins and boot us back to freeroam.
That said I've still managed to have a great time with it. Robbing liquor stores and such has been fun, gets me money and rep - albeit I doubt anywhere near as much as jobs do.
But at least I've been able to do something.

@rafaelfc: I assure you that the 360 version is pretty damn busted for almost everyone.

Well streamers seem to be playing without any issues...

Oh well, unnatural selection at work yet again.

i dont even find the Race. It says "Go to the race Trigger" i dont know where to go.

Well, guess this means I'm waiting a week or more for this thing to get ironed out. I haven't even completed the main game yet, so I've still got plenty of GTA V stuff to do.

@a7xnathan: It's probably not going to start/restart. It'll take a little while for the servers to get to where they can handle the load.

I tried playing it again only to find my character gone. Either it's the server's fault or I didn't exit the game properly. In any case I'm going to wait before making another so I don't lose more progress.

I never robbed one in singleplayer, but in multi you can shout through your mic or shoot near the cashier to intimidate him. Sometimes he'll draw a gun on you on your way out too.

Pretty cool about the mic thing, but yeah, in the main game you could shoot around the clerk to intimidate him, and there would be a slight chance that he'd pull a gun on you too. Not like there's anything wrong with it being such a similar process to how it was in the main game mind you. Was curious to see if they had altered anything for the sake of having more players.

After a few tries I was able to get through the character creation process, but nothing beyond that. Lots of failed to host session etc. Ah well, maybe tomorrow.

Day one launch woes. Go figure.

I don't have a PS3 mic, I'm hoping there's some other options, like firing a warning shot or something.

Dumb question : How do you start the online? I'm getting the game tomorrow and I really don't want to have to deal with this for now. Is it in a menu somewhere or are you forced into it after you install the update?

Left it alone for a few hours, last time I had tried my character's head had loaded into that bottom slot though. It was missing this time, and when I selected the character the screen immediately went completely black, all sound dropped out and I had to quit via the XMB. I'll try the solo session mode this time.

I think that you initially can only access it through the "Online" section in the pause menu.

You also should have the option to load straight into it by pressing A/X during the initial load or access it through the single-player character select.

When you're changing characters (Down on the direction pad) you'll get a rotation wheel with 4 slots, three of them are Trevor, Michael, and Franklin while the bottom one is an empty silhouette. Pick that one to access GTA Online.

Truth. Anybody remember how the launch of GTA IV online multiplayer was? I vaguely remember that thing kinda being broken as well.

How are you guys getting in games (if you are) ? So far, I haven't gotten past the character creation mode, I made a character and the game dropped me back into singleplayer mode.

I get to the first race, it ALERTS me that there was an error and i can't connect, then throws me back to single player. This is so awesome guys, I'm glad they waited 2 weeks to give us all this experience.

I got in and finished the first two tutorial missions before free roam. It said I set a world record when I lost that race. But then I tried to make a new character and it won't go. I think it is trying to put me and my friend in the tutorial together and just not doing it. Really I don't even understand why the first 20 minutes of GTA Online have to be online.

I thought we waited 2 weeks to give R* a chance to get their servers in order. How is every company surprised when people want to play their game? If 10+ million buy your game, shouldn't you expect that same number to join Online 2 weeks later?

I agree. They saw the huge amount of purchases. They knew they had time to get their shit together and they didn't do it. Telling people it might be iffy on launch day doesn't fix anything.

I totally understand the crazy server issues that must go along with trying to launch this.

I will say the only thing that has annoyed me is going through the fiddly character creator to make some dudes i'm totally happy with, only for the character data to corrupt both times.

I've still got the campaign to finish so i'll check in a couple of days once those bugs have been squashed don't want to get a load of progress that might not get synced properly.

I played a great deal of this in solo mode today after my first fiasco. Saw a lot of the game and I honestly can't imagine how it could run well with anymore than 1 person, but I guess we will have to wait. I will say however that I can't wait for this damn thing to be fixed and playable because my god is it amazingly fun.
