We should mention, the clip comes from an unconfirmed source, but everything about the system is reminiscent to Natal to us—we should say, Natal running a title in early beta. The control scheme seems simultaneously intuitive and awkward in what we're assuming is a proof-of-concept, the user repositioning their view by moving the screen with their hand.

I think an FPS playing on Natal is cool in concept, but in actuality it looks really awkward. Even though this is probably in it's very early stages, I can see this becoming quite tiresome to play a game like this. I just hope developers can find a happy medium between motion controls and standard controls, or else I fear the next generation will be filled with motion-control only games, which could really ruin many potentially good games.

I think it is cool to see what Natal can do, but there should not be a FPS on Natal. It just doesn't work as well as with a controller.

It looks a little lame, but then the game was never designed for such control, and tacking it on is never going to bring about positive results. Even when Natal does release, FPS games will still require some form of device which can be held imo. On a positive note, watch carefully and you'll see even the most subtle of palm movements reflected on screen.

so what if you have to scratch your balls... your guy will look down and get shot?

what it you take a drink or something?

It just seems to me that vision based motion control is governed by idealistic assumptions. What if someone walks in front of your tv between you and your camera... or your dog or cat?

these things happen more often then some might think.

If my pets saw me waving my hands around in front of the TV like an idiot they would immediately think I was playing and they will try to come play too... and they will get in the way.

Day to day life doesn't always allow for the ideal conditions of you in front of a camera by yourself in a large enough room with no other people or things around to get in the way and such.

Its a neat idea... it just seems impractical in most cases.

Not to sound fanboyish, but at least the Wiimote has sensors in it, and the Sony Motion Controller uses wands... something specific the camera is looking for.

    Uhm...
So they can look around during parts you don't have to be franticly running around and shooting enemies.  It looked like it took that guy at least three times trying to push the button to turn that thing on too.

    NOT impressed.

I think adventure games could be great with Natal. It would be like I'm really there.

So instead of simply moving an analog stick or mouse one way or another, I have to move my whole arm?  Ugh, imagine trying to aim in a fight like that, you'd have to constantly adjust.  I think all it's good for is screwing up your Avatar and bouncing virtual soccer balls around.

It perfectly shows everything that is wrong with the concept. I bet the developers of that demo wished Microsoft had gone the Nintendo way like Sony.

This all seems like it would be fun to do....once.  And then it would be great to go back to using the normal controls for a game.

Eh, be it the Wiimote, Move or Natal. I'll stick with my typical controllers and mouse/keyboard thanks.
