So I just noticed that Half-Life 1 is on sale in the Steam Summer sale. I have played Half-life 2 and both episodes and enjoyed those thoroughly.
How well has the first one aged? Is it still worth getting into?
The graphics are a little rough these days, but I'd say it still holds up pretty good.
It's still fun, if that is what you are asking.

I still enjoying playing half-life and if you're worried about the graphics hopefully the black mesa mod will come out soon.
I played it for the first time 6 years ago and thought it was incredible. Things have come a long way since 1998, but Half Life is still a very impressive achievement.

Do we still really believe in that?

Exactly. It's been "coming soon" forever.
Every year people ask this question and every year the answer is yes. It's one of those 3D games that have aged surprisingly well not to mention that it comes from an era where the protagonists in FPSs run around on roller skates.
@Demmetje: hahaha I think you should have that on while you're playing. That would be pretty cool I think.
But yeah. It's Half-Life. If you liked Half-Life 2, you'll like the original - it's the same game but without the gravity gun and (thankfully) without that horrible speedboat/dunebuggy thing.

Just found out that for €2,50 I can also get the Source version including Half-Life Source: Deatmatch.
The complete Half-Life bundle (including Blue Shift etcetera) is €9,24
Are those expansions worth getting?
The complete half-life bundle is pretty cool. I bought one way back in the day. I'm pretty sure if you wanted to play Blue Shift and Opposing force that you would have to get the regular game (they didn't port those to source) and they are worth it if you're interested.

Yeah, Blue Shift and Opposing Force are also great games worth playing. Opposing Force moreso.
I played it quite recently after a long time, and no. In 1998 it sure as hell was amazing. But it's like saying Pong is still great because it was one of the first video games. Really, now it's just a shooter with good shooting, (some) puzzles and platforming. But there really aren't any characters to speak of, except G-man. And the story...well it's all pretty much explained in the end, so there's not much of that either. Possibly the most over-rated game in existence...in my humble, worthless opinion.
Most of it still holds up pretty well. Except a certain area towards the end of the game. Fuck that place. And the final boss.
Yes, the game is still worth playing. I'd recommend getting the Anthology - with Blue Shift, Opposing Force, and TF Classic - because those games still hold up as well.
@Demmetje: I have started half life 1 multiple times but have never finished it. I finally just watched a speed run through of it and called it quits. I have played through HL2 and HL2: episode 1; I am currently pushing myself through Episode 2. Not that it is a bad thing, just that the storyline doesn't really capture me. But that could be because I was a late PC bloomer, either way your gaming so that is a win.
