At some point, too many good games come out over the years and you realize that you don't need to constantly wait and think about that one game you wanted to play so badly. I joke around about desperately wanting more Jedi Knight sequels but in all seriousness I don't think about it anymore.
Half-Life
A celebrated series of award-winning FPS games which has consistently pushed the limits and expectations of the first-person shooter genre since its inception.
I no longer believe in Half-Life 3

Half-Life 3 is coming. Valve must be loving this meme about its release because when they do announce it, it's going to be nuts.
There's no way it's not going to come out someday.
Honestly, I think this meme does more harm than good. The longer it goes on, the more mythical the "Half-Life" name becomes (not unlike Gordon becoming "the one free man" during his absence). If and when they finally show the game off, it will have to be undeniably ground-breaking, otherwise all of the indifferent or unfamiliar gamers will wonder why everyone was so desperate for the sequel, and the fans will be immensely let down. Look in this thread, half the people are expecting it to be a total game-changer. It's been anticipated so long that anything less than perfection will be hated on ruthlessly. I just want to know what's up with G-Man dammit!
I never said I was surprised, it's just disappointing to see that Valve once again shows how disrespectful they are to their loyal legion of fans. I don't care that it's the VGAs, they could have said more than "Game of the Decade... Okay whatever thanks but Gabe wants to get back to the free concessions so bye." Hell Telltale looked like they were going to cry when they accepted Game of the year.@Turtlebird95 said:
They seemed so unenthusiastic when they accepted that award. It's the VGAs. They're Valve.
Do that math and tell me why you're surprised they seemed unenthusiastic.
I still believe - while I'm not waiting on pins for HL3, I'm almost certain we'll get an announcement closer to the time next-gen consoles are released.
I gave up believing in HL3 few years ago and part of the reason I feel is that Valve has lost any enthusiasm in making it. Since HL2 Valve have made a few new IPs and at least a sequel to 2 of those new IPs so making new IPs and also managing the Steam service has left Valve in a state of mind that going back to old IPs just isn't motivating them to spend money and time making it.
I hope it gets announced with Gabe just personally emailing me back to say:
"Hey, we're done with with now. It'll be out tomorrow. Tell your friends."
