This new chapter in the Halo universe includes the following:

I'm still not exactly clear on what this is...on one hand, they say "standalone expansion", but the above press release makes it sound like it's DLC for Halo 3.

I'd be willing to bet it is a Shivering Isles-sized expansion that will be made available for download.  It's not inconceivable. 

Okay, just watched the trailer.  I have one thing to say:

FUCKING Fall '09?  A one year wait for this new . . . whatever it is. 

So, yeah, my last post was completely wrong--there's no way something this big can be a mere download.

Here is the embedded trailer from IGN.  Looks sweet.

I am going to go with its an expansion....that you can buy over live or get from the store...BUT, i think the mythic is some sort of survival game mode, like horde.

If it's coming Fall '09 I doubt it is just an expansion, I'm betting this is a new game.

Until I see actual gameplay content, I'm gonna assume it's GRAW in the Halo universe.

I'm going to imagine this is going to be a bit more tactical and GRAW-like, despite me also believing it's an expansion type of deal. I can perfectly see the Superintendent acting as a cypher with tactical data and helping you out along the way.

I love this new hero though, looks awesome. I've seen people claiming he looks like the Chief, but if you read and pay attention to the other elements in the universe, this is fresh as can be. The ODST's are awesome too, the best thing to command other then the chief.

Anybody else think his gun looks like a P90 with a silencer or an extended type of barrel?

As we all know, Pandora does not go back in his box, he only comes out. This is crappy, wish I wouldn't have read that article because well... I feel as though this is a major disappointment on the Halo front. It being stand alone and all.

So long as this comes out at a reasonable price, I'll be happy. Hopefully Microsoft doesn't milk Recon for the standard $60 price tag.

What interests me is if this will fragment the online Halo 3 community. Will Recon just integrate directly into the base Halo 3 online play, or will the two games be separate spheres with no crossover? I imagine Bungie's smart enough to integrate them somehow, but I wonder how they're gonna do it.

Is the gameplay going to be any different? I'm just curious.

I think this is just plain awesome. I like the idea of being accompanied by the Superindentant, getting indirect advice. I guess at some point you will bond with him, and have to save him somehow... I am pretty sure Bungie can pull something like that off.

Oh, and let me seed some suspicion about the ODST you're going to play. It's a female and her name is Maddie :)

After watching the trailer again and pausing when the ODST was in full view, I realised that his hands are just not feminine enough. A body armour may conceal a lot of details about body form ... but hands are something else :)
