Or has the main plot point of the game been spoiled? I only know who it is and nothing else.

As do I. In fact, when I was 10 I wrote a book about the exact same killer...kind of.

It is still worth playing. Even though the surprise may be taken out of the picture, the route to get there is still very good and it does not mean that your still guaranteed to get the ending you want

Playing it will only make you angry because the killer turns out to be the best character in the game.

Yes. To be honest the killer reveal doesn't make all that much sense in the story anyway, so it's not going to impact the effect all that much. If anything, maybe you can pay more attention now that you know and pick up on some of the subtleties that give you a clue who the murderer is.

Yes, as there is a lot else that you get to choose the outcome of. It is a good, interesting game that you should at least try.

If you're curious about a different take on story telling in games, by all means. For me personally, to find out who the killer was, was the only thing that kept me going in the second half of the game. The rest was kind of dull and tedious.

So, no, I wouldn't recomend playing it if the story is spoiled.

Yes. I was also spoiled the identity of the killer, and I still greatly enjoyed the game. That plot twist doesn't make any fucking sense anyways.

Abso-fucking-lutely. The game is pure atmosphere, and like most stories it's all about the journey not the destination.

People that nitpick and poke holes in the story are missing the point of the game.

    made me laugh.
will also add that the killer's own explanation to why had some holes.

the game was an oddity of controls, mundane actions and characters that were its stronger elements than the mystery for me.
so i'd give it a spin still.

No, don't play it. As previously stated, it will only make you mad because he was the only good character in the game, and one he's revealed to be the killer, it completely ruins his character. There are also tons of plot holes in the game, and it's not exactly a fun "game" either. Controls are crap and some of the gameplay designs are just insane. The most memorable thing about this game is the really bad voice acting. So unless you want to see for yourself as to how bad this voice acting is, this game doesn't have anything to offer you.

It wouldn't be worth it even if it wasn't spoiled.

Are you fucking serious? The voice acting is stellar, bar the odd accent-hitch. Controls are crap? Apart from movement, the only other controls are the context sensitive ones, which generally involve pressing a series of buttons or manipulating a stick. They're responsive and it's never a chore.

I could understand someone not enjoying the game, but to come out with some absurd criticism as justification is nonsense. When you're suggesting the most memorable thing about the game is  one of your criticisms and not any part of the thoroughly engaging story, your credibility is stretched somewhat.

I had this spoiled before my playthrough, too, but it didn't affect my enjoyment of the story at all. It's a pretty affecting piece, so I'd definitely still play through.

No. See, a good mystery can be viewed twice. The first time to be surprised, and the second time to pick up on tells and foreshadowing. Thing is, Heavy Rain is a big fat bucket of macguffins, red herrings, and just plain lazy plot holes, so you don't really gain anything when you know the killer because the game does a pisspoor job leading you there.

@GetEveryone: That's fine and all, but Heavy Rain won razzy type awards for its shitty voice acting. So understand, his opinion is kind of in line with a majority of people. Some people really wanna like something and they'll overlook all kinds of bullshit.

Seeing who the killer was is by far the weakest plot point of the game, if you stomach it, then I'd give it a go. Actually you might find it more enjoyable since you know what to look for and you won't be fooled like the rest of us chaps.
