The sixth game in IO Interactive's stealth murder franchise, simply titled Hitman, adopts an episodic design which continually introduces new assassination contracts for players to undertake.
Will they be able to make games if the same scope as before when they're independent? If so then hooray for them and hooray for Hitman fans.
Yeah. This seems like it could go well but they do need someone to fund their next game, unless management can afford to buy out the studio and IP AND fund development on something.
It's probably easier to get a publisher to fund a game in an established franchise than to buy a whole studio, so hopefully things will be fine, but they could also go under, or just end up doing a bunch of contract work on other company's games and not be able to develop season 2.
I'm cautiously optimistic but also sad that a game as acclaimed as Hitman can tank so badly that the publisher tries to sell the studio and doesn't find any takers. 2017 in the games business I guess.
This is fantastic, and hopeful news. I was never a fan of Hitman, but I really dug their last game, and I'm really looking forward to what they do now. I'm also curious about what other franchises they were able to keep.
