 "Yves Guillemot has spoken out to help clarify the reasoning behind Ubisoft's decision to push back I Am Alive to 2011. As the co-founder and CEO of the multi-national publisher explained, the work done so far by the games original developer was so unsatisfactory that Ubisoft had no choice but to throw it all out and start from scratch.
"We have totally re-engineered I Am Alive. It's still on the way, it's going to use the Splinter Cell engine.
"We have amortized [written off] all the costs that were incurred with the previous developer.
"Everything we do is fresh now on that product and we think it can be very good quality, but it's not going to come this financial year."

Wow this ubisoft must have alot of faith in the concept and gameplay.

Doesn't sound good for Darkworks :/ 

3 years down the drain

This seems to be becoming theme with Ubisoft franchises, first Splinter Cell: Conviction was totally rebooted and now this.

As long as the final product is good. Hint Ubisoft: Don't make the game about a ruined Chicago. Make it about a large metropolitan somewhere else, preferably on the west coast and north of San Francisco, near the Canadian border. *nudge nudge*

I'd rather them do this then release a bad game. I don't know why people would want it soon because it wouldn't be any good...

The Idea of the game is what got me excited about it. The idea of trying to survive while holding a gun with no bullets to a hostile enemy and he think it is loaded just sounded awesome to me. "

Damn, I was kinda hoping it would come out this Q4

I can't decide whether it's bold or douchy to call the old developer out like this. In either case, I'm pretty sure Darkworks is finished now.
