Final Fantasy 1 & 2 on iPhone
Square Enix have announced they're releasing both Final Fantasy and Final Fantasy 2 for iPhone/Touch.
The games will feature reworked graphics, similar to the versions seen on the PSP.

At this point I have replayed both these games approximately a total of 2,384,716,436,918,743,698,759,027,342,596,497,846,298,743.333333333 times.
Each time I replayed this game, it was a different version on a different platform.
Don't get me wrong, Final Fantasy I (HATE FINAL FANTASY II) is a classic worthy of high praise and recognition. But how many times has this game been ported now?
In Japan, I had heard at one time both games were repackaged together for the NES.
There was apparently an MSX2 port.
There was the WonderSwan Color port.
Then there was the Playstation Origins re-release, which had both.
Then there was Dawn of Souls for the GBA.
According to the internet in Japan it was released on mobile phones, on two different networks.
There was the 20th Anniversary PSP re-release, which this port is based off of.
I believe it's on Virtual Console, has it been released on PSN? I'm not sure.
Did I miss one?
I'm happy a great game has a new venue to be played on...again...Seriously.
At the same time, I guess this version is for the crazy fans like me, or the person who hasn't had the opportunity to pick this up in the last...uhm....
...23 years... :P

" @Linkyshinks: Ok, these are the sorts of iPhone ports I'm equally interested in and skeptical about. I guess the controls are simple enough that it could work...thanks for the news! "
I've just added some images above which show the faint interface. The control system offers an on-screen d-pad along with a dash button. The interface for selecting battle commands is all new for iPhone, with large icons at the bottom of the screen. The game's control scheme has been designed to reduce player stress by, for example, sorting magic commands in order of usage.
I can see the floodgates opening for more classic Square games if this does well, which I'm sure it will do despite how milked dry these two are.

" I just downloaded FF1 from the UK app store. So, get it while its hot! "
Let us know how you get on with it. I think many will be interested by the control scheme, and whether it's good enough to be used in other famous Square titles for iPhone versions.
Oh and anyone who wants to know, it cost me £5.49. Quite a reasonable price for Square ;)
