So as much as I wanted to wait until the full game to savour each part and not spoil anything, I couldn't resist when I saw it on the marketplace.

Todd McFarlene's art style is very vibrant and alive, the graphics aren't the best but are extremely fluid with little to no framerate issues at all. The combat from my limited time with the demo was much, much better than I was hoping for and felt a lot like Fable (which is a good thing). After playing Skyrim, I was hoping for more fluid, dynamic combat and it failed to deliver so I was happily surprised with KOA.

What are your thoughts/impressions?

Can´t find it on the xbox live marketplace in europe. It shows up in search but i don´t get the option to download it. Anybody else experiencing the same?

But after reading the comments I´m pretty excited, have already pre-ordered it :)

huh, I downloaded it from the European marketplace about two hours ago.

Downloading it now, looks somewhat interesting.

@Klei: It's getting coverage because it's a new ip that's being developed by some big names who've all created great games in the past. If they succeed in everything they're attempting to do it will be the runaway game of the year.

I enjoyed it. My only gripe is that at a certain point the entire screen turned black except for the health meters and I had no way of fixing it, even dying didn't reset anything.

i'm playing it, i like it so far. Targetting takes a bit getting used to, was trying to find a lock on toggle but doesn't seem to have one.

Played it, feel pretty "meh" about it. Action is fine, but not as engaging as I hoped, and overall execution felt a little clumsy. Something about character movement and camera control seemed a little off, UI just looks clunky, menus feel slightly unresponsive, and a dozen other nitpicks. The game as a whole seems pretty decent so far, but there are enough little things that bug me enough to not care for it.

That ... was glitchy. No character ever spoke outside of the cut-scenes, it basically auto-skipped everything for me instantly and I had no option to prevent it. :( The game felt quiet. The lack of music during non-boss battles was really getting to me. The game locked up when I got to the LT RT berserk mode tutorial, so I stopped playing. I'll probably pick it up once it's around 40$.

Playing it now and just got to the "you got 45 minutes left to play" message. I'm enjoying it and I am going to put an order in for it I think. The demo has a bug on my system where it suddenly automatically skips all the conversation. This has happened twice and it hasn't reset itself yet the second time. I won't be playing the demo for much more if it doesn't fix itself. 
 
EDIT: The demo went on and decided for me, it locked up my whole Xbox.

I like it but the bugs have me worried.

Posted this in the other thread (that is not clearly about the demo), so I'll repost it here:

Just played around with the demo and I have really mixed feelings about it, nothing really grabbed me nor did it offended me. It all feels a little lifeless and generic. The combat was ok, but no patch on Dark Souls. The artstyle is not bad, but Fable and WoW do this (cartoony, chunky) style better. The few dungeons I did were extremely lineair, and the quests hold your hand to a point where you are just running towards a pointer. I had to look for some specific resource (bark from a tree) and the pointer led me exactly to where it was, no exploration necessary.

All in all I'll say the combat and loot seems to be it's strong point, but I guess I am a little spoiled by Dark Souls. Not saying that is necessarely a better game, but it has more of what I am looking for.

EDIT: I agree that inventory management seems really clunky

@mcderby4: Todd McFarlane did the art? First I heard of this. If it's true, that just sold the game to me.

For those wondering how/why this is on Steam and Origin, the Steam store page lists 38 Studios as the publisher.

yeah i'm downloading on steam now, even though i already played it on Xbox. Want to see how dramatic the interface feels on PC.

Personally, I enjoyed the demo.

Again, as with other posters, the bugs do worry me. I experienced the same Audio Skip bug others have mentioned.

I have a pre order for this. I'm hoping that this demo is a early build as Ken Rolston mentioned on the IGN Game Scoop podcast that the Demo was practically outsourced. I'm hoping the final game is more polished.

 
I was actualy having some problems with it. In some of the cutscenes I couldnt hear any dialog, And then when I was fighting the troll the whole screen went completely black and all I could see was the text over the troll and the helth bars of it and my character .

I just got done playing the demo and was highly impressed. I didn't come across any of the bugs mentioned by others in this thread. I was excited for this game before but I'm sold now.

it crashed three times on me earlier today and i'd had enough of that.

then, bored this evening and decided to give it one more chance before deleting it - no problems. well, problems - character models flicking in and out during conversations, absolutely weird problems with concave sections of ground. but no crashes

i quite like it. not much room for mucking about though which is kind of a big deal for me ...

Have anyone been able to find the demo on PSN? I can't see it anywhere, despite 38 Studios stating that it's out.

sounds like this game has problems. or maybe a lot of you are braindead... but this is giantbomb so its probably that first thing.

Had the same audio issues the entire demo and it froze my console after leaving the caves. Really, really want to like this game, but wow was the demo a letdown.

@SuperSambo: People just like to have games all in one place ie Steam. Also Steam has many and frequent sales, which may not happen on origins.

On topic: I liked the demo overall, hit some audio bugs and weird clipping issues. I will eventually play this, but I spent all my money preordering the N7 edition of ME3.

I'm gonna grab it on sale, I think I like it well enough.

I will say that I had a bad glitch my first run of the demo; during the boss fight I opened my map and closed it, only to have the screen stay black, I was still able to kill it, and had to do the QTE with a black screen and an A prompt before the game was restored. Hope there's nothing like that in the retail.

My impressions? PIECE OF SHIT! PC gamers don't buy this game. Especialy the left-handed ones. You cannot fucking remap the movement controls because there aren't any. You are forced to use WASD. Fuck this game. Not buying it.

I got stuck and couldn't move or do anything so I stopped playing.

Hmm looks like I'll check it out on Steam. I'm not super excited about it, but I'm always down for RPG stuff.

I really dislike the game, the only positive to me is the environment designs, the animations are poor, the graphics are sub-par, the menus are atrocious very poorly designed and clunky. Overall it is very generic and has absolutely no appeal to me. At least I'm getting Mass Effect 3 items for suffering through this poorly crafted game.

From a point of having played it on my laptop with more or less no graphic card, meaning everything was off/low, and having skipped all the cutscenes, and only played 5 minutes og gameplay, I can't say I'm too impressed. On a serious note, though, I think the menu's where a sign of bad console conversion.

How are the menus? Do they still look like they a generation old

welp the game for me is unplayable on PC.

I get a big black screen for the cut scenes but they are playing because I can hear the audio and I can create my character, when the game starts the black screen is just there but the game is playing, but its like a big black screen was placed on top of the game and I cant see anything. Everything responds. Then I open the inventor and I can use that and move around and stuff. The UI stays in front which is a little weird. Than when I leave the inventory the screen stays on there but the game is playing.

Sooo....I don't know how the game is. :C

1)The interface is clearly made for consoles, no surprises.

2)Combat is interesting and fluid

3)Art is sublime very colorful and bright, some characters look a bit off tough

4)Meh, really I can see that this is a very well crafted game but for some reason I'm missing something, maybe it's the new IP feeling but i don't know. I feel like I've played this before so many times and I find myself not caring for the story much.

In the end I got my Mass Effect 3 items I guess, gonna wait and see how the community reacts to it and see if i missed anything and maybe play it later this year in case it gets really good.

As much as I wanted to like this game, everything but the stealth kills felt just...average. Stealth stuff was cool and I always enjoy a good execution animation but other than that, it wasn't as good as I'd hoped.

Also, after playing Skyrim, having to go into the pause menu and stuff to equip items and weapons and such just feels clunky. Skyrim has such a good menu system and I guess it's spoiled me, a bit.

Seems like a total Fable rip off with bayonetta style finishing moves thrown in for good measure. The devs on the bombcast sounded really sincere and all, but I'm not feeling it sadly.

Still not sold on it. Feels way too much like a linear World of Warcraft due to the art style. Combat is shallow, even with some things thrown in, they don't blend as well as they do in, say, Batman. It didn't really grab me either and doing some weird letterbox style when you get the "conversation wheel" was quite a horrible idea since it felt like they covered up more than they needed to, it just felt cramped. Meh. I don't know. It might show promise if you get into it for a longer period of time, but that art style, just can't get over it.

There are things I liked, it seems like a really big RPG and to me feels exactly what I always imaged Fable should have been. An action/adventure RPG, with a lot of big areas to explore and mess around in (while not being quite as open as the Elder Scrolls) but with enough lore and background information to keep things entertaining (which Fable pretty much totally lacked). The problem for me is that the story and lore feel completely uninspired and generic.. Yes, it's not really fair to judge the game from what little we saw in the demo, but there's nothing that grabbed me. Things did get a bit more interesting when you get to that first town.. but Scottish Dwarves? Really?

The combat is fine, but nothing particularly special, it might develop more later on. I'm sure the dynamic class system seemed revolutionary if they thought it up 4 or 5 years ago, but after games like Skyrim, it just feels rather quaint. You're still assigned a class at the start of the game (having to pick between brawler, rogue or mage) and there's nothing particularly deep or customisable about the experience. Many of the old Dragon Quest games had deeper class customisation.

Any part of the story or character you meet that might have been impressive (like that ex-knight Fateweaver guy early on) is left feeling completely underwhelming because of the poor voice acting and animations.. and as others have mentioned, it's a very buggy game. Audio doesn't work properly, the lip syncing is non-existent in most conversations, the dialogue system is bizarre and switches styles from a Mass Effect wheel to a list - seemingly at random.. NPC's reference things like you being immortal if you pick certain conversation topics, then have no knowledge about this for others.. And yes, the menu's are something you'd expect from a game made a decade ago.

Frankly, it's not a quality product. When it's cheap, I think you could get some enjoyment out of it, if you're into games like Risen, Two Worlds and Divinity, etc, but you shouldn't be rushing out to buy this at full price (and I really feel sorry for anyone who bought that $200 CE).
