    How important is a DS3 to play this game?

    So I bought my PS3 near launch, it's fat and the controllers don't vibrate, just plain old sixaxis, and I've been fine with that, but I hear that the vibration is used in investigations here

    I want it for PS3 because of the exclusive case and better performance, but should I just get on 360 for the better controller?

    @Venatio: Your title says "DS3" just so you know. I have it for the X360 and the vibration does play a big part of finding clues on the ground etc but you can also hear a chime noise so as long as you have good hearing and volume either should be fine. PS all the DLC cases are out for the Rockstar pass (at least on XBL not sure about PSN) so you have plenty of choice.

    Just get a dualshock 3 then. The PS3 has extra content, better performance, and it's all on one disc.

    Also, DS3.

    I played it without a DS3. Worked out just fine.

    When you discover a piece of evidence, you hear a tone when the controller vibrates so you will have something to clue you in. I rely on the vibration because my hands registers it stronger than my ears with the tone.

    I thought all sixaxis controllers vibrated since the system launched in '06.

    Overall, I'd stick with the PS3 version.

    @Venatio: I don't know people who say DS3 for a dualshock 3, I figured it was a typo. Get a controller.

    Did you really think I was asking if I needed a PS3 to play this game on a PS3?

    Sorry thought you just meant PS3 as I read it as you were asking which edition (PS3 or X360) to buy with you hardware. Nevermind my bad

    I played it with rumble and I'm going to say that it did help a bit. Sometimes there was background noise where I wouldn't hear the "ding" and the soft rumble from the 360 controller would point me in the right direction.

    To be fair you don't really need it, it depends on how you want to play the game. I played through it without any of the aids (vibration, chiming, music cues) because I wanted to find clues myself, not wander around waiting for the game to tell me if there was something. So it just comes down to difficulty. Do you want the game to help you or do you want to do all of the investigating unaided. Personally I find that to be the best way to play game.

    Just turn up the sound on your TV. After a while, the chime for finding a clue is unmistakable. My PS3 controller also doesn't have rumble. Didn't miss a single clue (that I walked near that is - there were a few clues that I missed, but that wasn't due to no-rumble). And if you are worried about missing a clue, just keep walking until the investigation music stops.
