Max Payne 2 : The fall of max payne 0

I remember watching my older brother play the first Max Payne. It was the first time I'd ever seen Slow-motion in a game and it was also the first time that I'd seen such a complex plot in an action game. The first max payne was simply a gem, but is the sequel just as praiseworthy?  Yeah, I know, I'm late to the Max Payne 2 Review party. But having completed it for the first time less then two weeks ago. I stil find myself thinking back on it, a rare thing indeed. I don't know, maybe it's the da...

Max Payne's sequel excels in almost every conceivable way. 0

The original Max Payne gave us a long enough taste of mind-bendingly exciting action and adventure to make us salivate profusely at the mouth with delight, and then quickly took it away before we got too greedy. Max Payne 2: The Fall of Max Payne takes almost the exact same approach, but gives us a slightly different game, as well as an even more engrossing experience. Although we all wish the game had been just a little longer, its quality would probably have suffered. For what you get then, Ma...

Max Payne 2 - The Fall of Max Payne 1

There’s a saying that sequels kill the real image of a game. They are often too modified and takes the feeling of the original away. There are very few sequels that have actually arrived with the exact prototypes, and at the same time improve everything of the original game. Max Payne 2 was one of those games. Max Payne original was build one a very solid foundation with a great cinematic ‘comic book style’ story line and a hardcore first-person shooter. It was the first game that introduced slo...

Now the first max payne you played as a ex cop trying to figure out who killed your wife kid and best friend. But this time you are a cop (or detective)And this time its almost the same except this time you have mona sax on your side. Mona sax is wanted for murder and A a love interest of Max.Now the story in the first max payne was and is still good and Max payne 2 while its not as good as the first game's Plot it is still really good.So in Max payne in the end you get dragged off to jail in th...

    Max Payne 2 0

Here is a game that caught me off guard when it came out. My only encounter with the Max Payne series was quickly finishing Max Payne simply to see what the fuss was about. So I was flying blind when I bought the sequel. I didn't have any expectations, to me it was just a new game, a shooter.I wasn't prepared for the opening cinematic that just features Max doing a bullet time reload. It amazed me and caught me so off guard I must have watched it at least five or six times before I actually star...

    Maximum Payne, Minimal Enjoyment 0

Max Payne is taking it to the MAX! Yet strangely the rest of the game feels rather… minimal...  Max Payne 2 stars the most depressed, miserable, hard luck cop this side of Noir City, Max. It is his job to clean up the streets and protect the people from the tyranny of the cleaners. Along the way there will be intrigue, drama, and danger. There is all the flash and subtly for a great graphic novel here, but not enough substance for a great game.  The presentation in The Fall of Max Payne is top n...

Max Payne 2: The Fall of Max Payne 0

Maybe it's because it was already four years old somehow when I played it, but Max Payne 2 didn't impress me as much as the first game. The core gameplay is basically the same, and there's nothing wrong with it, it's just not as fresh. Bullet Time works a little differently, as Max moves at almost the same speed as he does normally while everyone else is stuck in slow motion, and it's an interesting dynamic. It almost changes Bullet Time to more of a Win Button than a helpful assist, but I didn'...

A Dark,Gritty Game Which has Quality Over Quantity 0

Max Payne is considered as one of the classiest third person shooters on PC, and it has been said that for a good reason as well. It doesn't only have one of the most original element in shooters in the form of bullet time, but a thoroughly deep and interesting protagonist in Max Payne himself. Max Payne 2 starts with unknown time after Max Payne 1, where Max Payne has joined NYPD again and has been doing the quiet job until his past haunts come back as a nightmare in the form of his love,...

Those graphics!!!!! I thought this was last gen?........... 0

The first Max Payne was rather akin to a one night stand. It can be a great experience but is over before you can really get into it (no pun intended :P) This sequel heightens the experience but once again finishes before it has really begun. This game picks up where the last one left off, after Max's murderous rampage he is somehow installed to his former job with no charges against him. I won't spoil the story but suffice to say this story has just as much power as the previous. The graphics...

Short but oh so sweet. 0

If you're like me and don't have a lot fo spare time to sit down and actually play through your games collection, Max Payne 2 is the answer to your prayers. Just like a good short book, it will keep glued to your screen just to see how the plot develops, it's not overly long and each chapter (or level) serves a purpose in revealing the story. The style of the game is much the same as the first.. gritty, dark with a little toungue in cheek humour here and there for good measure. Particularly wor...

    Much More Cinematic 0

A lot of the published reviews' main criticism was that this game was not a giant leap forward from the first Max Payne and while that may be true from a graphical standpoint, this sequel features a huge improvement in the way the story is unraveled.  Whereas in Max Payne the three chapters were disjointed and could easily be standalone episodes, the sequel's chapters are much more interwoven to form a compelling story that makes you want to play the game.  Moreover, the addition of cinematic sc...

    Art through story 0

Max Payne 2: The Fall of Max Payne has long remained my favorite game of all time. Not due to it's engrossing, yet now standard industry game play, or its then stunning graphics, but for the first truly mature video game story.  Max Payne deliver's arguably the best story within a video game, and is perhaps superior to many films within its genre. The depth and complexity behind all characters, the atmospheric setting within the word's capital of noir New York, and its overall tragic  tone make ...
