Konami has demystified the Metal Gear teaser site it posted a couple of weeks ago by announcing--drum roll--Metal Gear Solid Touch, an iPhone-specific mission for Solid Snake based on the story of MGS4.

You know what this means. We have to actually start caring about iPhone games now.

Here's all the revealed info so far, straight out the press release.

I was hoping it was MGS4 for the 360 because then I would have bought a 360 for it as the PS3 is too expensive. Does anyone who owns a Iphone care about MGS and does anyone who cares about MGS want to play it on an Iphone?

I think it would have been nicer if it was on the Wii or the 360, in my opinion. It shows that the iPhone is quickly becoming more popular for it's gaming abilities though.

What a waste of a development team. This sort of talent could have been used more wisely. Apple should stick with casual games on cell phones.

Whatever, its japanese.  Looks neat in principle but I dont see how the controls are going to work.  Well see I guess.

! ?  I don't know if I would want to play MGS on my iPhone. If it is an acid-like system (turn-based) then I can see it work. Problem for me is that I didn't like the acid games as much to warrant a buy on the iphone.  So, is hte Iphone/Ipod touch color green as well (referring to the original tease)?

Are people really having problems with this?  A 3D cellphone MGS has already been done, so it seems natural the iPhone was going to get one eventually.  I think non-PS3 owners are just getting their panties in a bind because they were expecting the 360 MGS4 port.

Frankly I'm not surprised that games are starting to pop up on this device.  This is perfect for the Japan market.

I agree with Phished0ne that an Ac!d game would have been better, especially since Ac!d would be perfect for a touch only interface.

I really don't see the point to this.  First off, it's on the iphone, which not too many people have.  2nd, the iphone is only for AT&T subscribers, unless you happen across one that's unlocked.  3rd, how many of those iphone users are actually going to know about MGS?  Seems like pretty slim pickings if you ask me...

Ugh, this is disappointing.  This is such a waste.  I know they are probably still working on the next real mgs project with the main team but still......... its just kinda sad.

I have been playing videogames for the last 24 years, but, God, Xbox fanboys are the most annoying creatures I have met so far. They are not happy with enjoying whatever they want, they feel the need to prove to everyone else that their choice is the best one and try to convert others into their religion.

Some points:

• Nobody said it would be a X3rl port, only xbots hyped an already dead rumor up (while flooding internet forums with jokes about the PS3);
• Konami does whatever it wants with its money and resources. Do you disagree? Then create your own company and do whatever you think it is right;
• Other gaming devices already used touchscreen successfully. For example, Zelda Twighlight Princess for the Nintendo DS. You don't use anything beyond the touchscreen there and the game is good;
• iPhone is more than capable of running interesting games, and no, it doesn't suck. Just because you got MEGA-OWNED by Kojima you are saying that;
• The cell phone games market is huge, and probably Konami wants a piece of it. "Oh, but I am hardcore....". Who cares? If a company believes that they can make money somewhere else, so what?
• This MGS on 360 rumor MUST DIE once and for all. Your console can't even handle it! How would they fit that much data in one DVD without screwing up the game badly?
• Kojima massively OWNED the xbots! It wouldn't be so funny if the owners of the worst hardware that money can buy didn't go around bragging about it everywhere, being the jerks they usually are;
• I have yet to see a single game journalist get things right. It is even funny. I remember when Bungie became independent from MS, and all smart-asses journalists were saying that was unlikely. Now even Jeff said in the podcast iPhone sucked for gaming. When will they get something right?

This media bias towards MS pisses me off. Casual games is a huge market, Wii is the winner of this generation, PS3 sold more units worldwide in the first 2 years than the X3rl (stop pretending the rest of the world doesn't exist) and the X3rl is a terrible piece of engineering. These are just facts. Now cry me a river, xbots.
