Metamoq is the one who teaches Ghat, and as such is the one who teaches the player about the combat system; His training sessions are told in flashbacks. The first one was right after Ghat used the skull bomb on Father-Mother, the second when he crosses the gate out of Halstedom. The third is told during Deadra and Ghat's first camp in the forest.
Metamoq is a corwid of the free, which also means that he is insane. His fourth flashback is when he attempts to kill Ghat, but he reveals that he was actually trying to kill himself, and uses the same skull bomb method that Ghat uses on Father-Mother on himself.
