    Mettaton was built by Alphys and harbors a soul inside. Mettaton places as an entertainer robot / human killer. However, this is revealed to only be, so Alphys could save the protagonist "Frisk", feel valued, and become closer. Mettaton is also the sole TV star of the underground.
