To start off with thread is not me being the indecisive bimbo trying to decide which one I want. I'm going PS3 and I still want to play MW2. This is me asking what are some of the differences when it comes to online, online gameplay, community, and matchmaking time.
Don't bother going over graphics since I could really care less at this point since they're so similar.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2
Game » consists of 22 releases. Released Nov 10, 2009
The sequel to 2007’s wildly successful first-person-shooter Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 continues the story of American and British soldiers fighting Russian ultra-nationalist forces.
MW2 for PS3 replacing 360
All the same. I own both versions. The PS3 to play Spec-Ops with my brother and the 360 to play with my friends. From what I see its the same thing. Unless you get the PC version. Then theres a difference. You get ripped off by $10 because all other PC games are $50 (except the soon to be Assassin's Creed II) and you have mouse & keyboard. Depends on what you prefer.
There are a few subtitle things that you will notice between the two.
The first would be headsets. There are far fewer people with headsets on the PS3 because they have to provide there own then the 360. Overall, I say that its a positive, because it relates to far fewer mics getting muted, but in my 4hrs of playing on the PS3 I have gotten far more "Your a hacker cunt", which I'm not, messages than my 3 days worth of playing on my Xbox. I'll take reading those messages over hearing them any day though
The second is that I have experienced far less significant lag and glitches that severely dampen the experience on the PS3 than Xbox, but small lag is a bit more noticeable.
The third is that Xbox has a superior controller layout compared to the PS3. Even though D-Pad is of better quality on the PS3 it is sometimes a pain to get to in a firefight.
The fourth is that Xbox generally gets all of the DLC earlier than PS3, but I myself consider this to be a very small benefit. It really only benefits those kids who want to start console wars.
The fifth is that online gaming is free on a PS3 compared to Xbox Live where you either pay around $7 a month or pay around $60 for 13 months.
The sixth is that downloadable content is a lot easier to manage on the PS3 then Xbox due to the pricing. The PS3 actually uses real dollar amounts while Microsoft uses it's stupid point system.
The seventh is that the menus load much faster on the PS3 then Xbox. Xbox's dashboard takes a while to load your friend list when it starts.
The ninth and biggest factor is who you would actually be playing with. If you want to play with you friends, which greatly increases the experience, then buy the system that they have. If none of your friends really play video games then I suggest doing some research on the exclusive titles that each system has and go with the one that interests you most.
no difference.
not as much glitchers who hacked and things like that though.
and not as many whiney annoying little kids.
add me DeMolay88, and ill play with you.
My friend has trouble when he plays on 360 but apparently is much better on the PS3...I don't know if that reflects play style of the community or what.
Maybe it's just because I've put in a lot more time with it, but I feel the controller layout of the 360 controller is much better for shooters than the PS3 controller. Swapping the position of the d-pad and left analog stick really does make a big difference. Not to mention using the trigger to shoot instead of R1. I really hate that about the PS3 layout. Also, melee (clicking in the right stick) is a lot more sensitive on the PS3, which can be good but can take some getting used. When I first started playing on the PS3 I found myself accidently meleeing when I wanted to shoot.
I read an article a while back on the evolution of the console controller and apparantly, one of the goals of the original X-box was to make a successful FPS on the console (and they succeeded with Halo) and one of the things they focused on to that end was the controller design. So, in essence, an X-box (and 360) controller is designed for shooters. Not that you can't get used to the PS3 controller or be very good with it, but in my opinion and several of my friends that I've talked to about this, the 360 controller just feels more natural when playing FPS's.
Apparently a different controller is the biggest difference you'll notice between the 360 and PS3 versions of MW2 and perhaps the potential for less players using a mic as well on the PS3.
And to the guy calling people 'cows' and so forth. Don't turn this into a system wars / flame bait topic. Leave your fanboyism at the door thanks!
i thought it took a second to get started up when you picked online mp, but then i saw the 360 was identical.
as said before, it seems like there's fewer glitches, like that private match playlist thing wasn't on ps3.
but yeah, get it for whatever your friends have it for if you have both.
Thanks. I really have no desire to start a system war here. A lot of people said you could get a modded 360 controller to work for a PS3 on a thread I read a while back so that shouldn't be too big of an issue.
i totally disagree." Less people with headsets. "
i say equal amount with better sound quality.
Same game.
Difference is you get XBL services on it (like every game on the 360) and you get PSN services on the Playstation 3. There also seem to be less people with mics (which is a good or bad thing depending on your situation). Just go for the version that has more of your friends playing.
