I'm getting into lancing now after my gunlance and switchblade have failed me in a few instances, the charge is a ton of fun both for mounting and just constantly piercing into a downed monster, i don't even care if it eats up my sharpness, I'll just keep running into them! I have a black gravios set for guard up, and with an auto block talisman, I'm like the terminator just marching forward fearlessly into the monster. Counter's good too when they land.

Shield and sword so far. I'm a complete noob and this gives me the best balance of speed and attack. Once I get more comfortable with the systems and camera controls (no new 3ds for me) I would like to try out some of the ranged weapons.

Everyone knows switchaxe goes hardest in the paint.

I always switch between using dual blades and long sword but if I had to choose one I'd go with dual blades. I just love the speed and flashiness of the combos a lot.

@jimmysmiths: That jump attack is real tempting but I love the way the Gunlance handles so much more I don't think I can give it up. And the Hammer is just so much faster for anything I don't need cutting damage for.

@starvinggamer: I would recommend to try dodge lancing, with the evade skill its pretty great. Though, you already seem to have your favorite weapons figured out.

@jimmysmiths: Yeah it's hard to recall but I think my preferred Nargacuga farming method was Evade Extender / Evasion +2 Lancing but I never felt like I was good enough at it to go full-on Lance. Maybe it's time to give it another go. I didn't use it at all in Tri so it will be extra new to me with the jump attack and the counter stab.

i recently tried the switch axe, and at first thought it was the slowest worst thing around. Once you know how to use it, its great fun

After posting and voting for the Long Sword, I actually switched over to the Hammer.

I'm mainly using Long Sword but am also using the Switch Axe when I want to change it up a bit. Both have been fun to use since I mainly used other weapons in 3

I'm relatively new to the series (hopped on with MH3U) and I've only really given the dual blades much of my time. Earlier today, though, I decided to at least go through all of 4's weapon tutorials to get a sense for what else I might like to try. I am intrigued by the insect glaive!

After messing around with most of the other weapon types I'm really big fan of how relentless you can be with the sword and shield, especially when using a weapon that causes status effects. Really though, the only weapon type that hasn't really done it for me is the hunting horn.

I like using the Bow because I shoot a Recurve Bow in real life and I love it, I love when games have bows to use and that is usually what I go for.

I'm trying to learn the insect glaive and charge blade, because they both seem like a lot of fun. However, my many hours with the long sword in MH3U means that's still my best weapon.

Also, hunting horn can be pretty awesome solo too. It's my second favorite weapon.

I'm using a switch axe now ('cause I'll be DAMNED if I don't make a weapon outta that Zamtrios), but the great sword is where it's at. You hit dudes, and they REALLY don't like that.

I like a Long Sword more, but I feel I'm way better with a Charge Blade.

I'm an arena fighter, but I still love charge blade. Thing is, I still have elite blade. Switch ax may hit hard, but it has no way to stop shit, or majorly fuck up the bitch you r fighting with a guard point.
