The Handheld Answer to the First Halo
By the title of my review, you might have turned away because you think, "There's no way it can be as good as the first Halo!" You're kinda right, and kinda wrong. I'll get to this in a second.
Let's start with the story. You play as Major Kane, (How many space marines have the last name Kane?) a space marine dude sent to, you guessed it, The Moon, to investigate some alien bunker thing. You walk around, and then, stuff goes insane. And the outcome, ROBOTS! While we've seen something like this, done in Movies, Books, Games, TV shows, Etc. 100 times, they throw in enough things to keep it fresh .
The graphics, are excellent for the DS. One thing that is amazing is that, well, it's a DS game, and it runs at 60 frames per second! It also has tons of great effects, lots of enemies on screen, pretty explosions, the works! It is insane for DS.
The gameplay is freakin's awesome, but repeative. You shoot stuff and there's not a lot of enemy variety, even the boss's are repeative, and there's a lot of back tracking. But that said they do throw in some variety. There are some Moon Buggy scenes, and you use this cool RC robot to solve puzzles, and it's very fun.
Overall, the game is 4-6 hours, with a good amount of replay value. It's great , and worth $30 bucks. However, the repetion doesn't make it quite as good as the first Halo, but it's still good.
4 stars!
