A couple of days ago I downloaded the MotorStorm: Apocalypse demo and, since I've never owned a single MotorStorm game before and the only time I ever played one was the original game set up at a store, I wasn't really excited for it. And you know what, I'm still not. The demo contains one level and a car and a bike to race with.

The controls are decent but it gets a little frustrating to race on the track since, because there's so much stuff happening on screen at one time it has a hard time keeping you on the correct path and I always seemed to find myself driving into a wall because I couldn't see the correct path in the rubble. The tunnels are the worst offender for this. There are some great scripted moments but they remind me of Split Second a little too much because once you see them they get a little old.

Granted the game looks really nice and there's some good promise of some great action set pieces but it honestly just feels like another driving game. If you liked Split Second, like I did, then you might find this game to be a bit lacking in originality. I won't be getting it but that doesn't mean that you shouldn't at least try this demo.

Also, running over screaming, terrified pedestians in the road made me feel really bad. I just don't want to play this.

I've been waiting to see how this one would turn out.  I have Motorstorm: Pacific Rift and enjoyed it quite a bit.  These games sort of remind me of the old "Jet Moto" games back on Playstation 1.  Not sure when it's coming out stateside though since it's still indefinitely delayed.

I got it from the Australian PSN Store but it might not be there anymore.
