    Overview

    Mountain King is an Atari 2600 game where the goal is to collect pieces of a crown. When you collect all of them, the game plays "In the Hall of the Mountain King". The main enemy in the game is a spider who can catch you and cocoon you. If caught by the spider, you have some time to wiggle yourself free. If the spider passes by you once you can live but if he passes twice, you die.

    Due to the fragility of the player character, horror themes and unpredictable nature of the spider enemy, the game is considered to be a progenitor to the survival horror genre.
