    Overview

Combat is developed by Faultline Games and published by Unknown Worlds Entertainment.

Faultline Games emerged from the Natural Selection 2 modding scene and formed their own studio in late 2013. They began work on their own projects until being approached by Unknown Worlds to release a commercial version of their most popular mod, 'Combat Mod'.

Combat is a standalone expansion of the game Natural Selection 2, with radically different gameplay, new weapons and abilities and brand new levels.

    Gameplay

Combat's gameplay pits aliens against space marines in a fast paced, action-packed struggle for survival. For the marines, the game plays like a twitch-shooter, but for the aliens each round begins as a stealth game, changing into a stomp-em-up as the aliens gain in strength. Players are able to choose their own loadout to fit with their play style. Options for levelling up can build up to a jetpacking sentry-gun building marine or a deadly, lightning-fast invisible alien.

Unique abilities added in combat include 'Devour', where the largest alien eats her enemies who then have to fight their way out from inside; a new basic weapon for the Marines, a heavy cannon and the 'Exo Suit', which lets the player reenact their favourite robot/alien-punching scenes from the movies.

Combat's rounds typically last 15 minutes, but there are persistent stats that are tracked from game to game and the team have talked about adding a persistent talent tree system after the game is released.

    Support

Linux dedicated servers will be available at release. Linux and Mac support are planned, but they will not become supported platforms until some time after release.
