Overview
Nearwood is a point and click Hidden Object adventure game set in a fantasy world. Developed by Magicindie Softworks and published by Viva Media, the game is available via multiple online distributors. Big Fish Games later released an IOS version on September 14, 2014 and an updated Android version in April of 2015.
Story
Jane loses both of her parents and returns home years later to get to the bottom of what happened. a mysterious friend awaits to point her to the fantasy realm of Nearwood, a place she vaguely remembers from her childhood. While Jane attempts to help the plight of those along her journey she discovers that the disappearance of her parents may be tied to this mystical realm.
Gameplay
Gameplay is traditional point and click. Collect items to your inventory and then interact with the environment using the correct items. There are also hidden object scenes where will you need to find items matching the shape of several items listed in the find window. Puzzle skip and Hints are also available. Expert mode can be chosen which removes all hints, skips, and maps for those seeking extra challenge. A mini game exists throughout the content by finding extra hidden critters called Snoop-Sees that will unlock pages from their encyclopedia, which is optional.
Game World
Starting off briefly in Jane's childhood home, she spends the bulk of her time in Nearwood. While the areas aren't divided by named geography, there are 3 maps containing over 30 locations to explore. Plenty of fully voiced friends and enemies will be encountered along the way.
