Nintendo's Satoru Iwata has announced that Nintendo will be holding another 3DS conference on Friday, October 21st. The event will be streamed live via UStream & Nico Nico.

As an example of what to expect from the event, Nintendo mentioned details on the 3DS system’s November firmware update and Mario Kart 7‘s wireless play support.

The stream kicks off at 8pm on October 21st, Nihon time.

I sure hope there's a new messaging system ready for us owners, the lack of one is really dire. A new channel for Mario Kart 7 would be sweet also, something like the Wii version, only with SpotPass functionality for swapping Ghost Data and accepting race invites from friends or passers-by. The possibilities on 3DS for such a feature are really great.

I think the primary focus of this conference will be the November Firmware update, after all, they've already covered all the games that are due to arrive in the coming months, or have they?.

What I'd like to see included in the November 4th Firmware Update:

• GBA 3DS Ambassador Games List
• 3D Video Recording (w editing and publishing tools)
• 3DS Messaging Service
• Flipnote Studio 3D
• More AR Updates
• Enhanced StreetPass and Mii Plaza Features
• Two New Games

I hope this conference brings details of a messaging system, since the 3DS really needs one. Especially with Mario Kart 7 coming, it will be easier to set up games with your friends and send them messages in between games. Hopefully you'll be able to send photos, as well.

Certainly interested in hearing more about Mario Kart 7, as well.

It would be really nice to have a dedicated channel for that, it would keep chat focused.

I do hope they announce a re-design. I'll want a 3DS by the time Luigi's Mansion 2 comes out, and since it'll implement that doofy accessory... well, I'd rather just wait for a hardware update.

I want more details on Bravely Default.

They wouldn't announce a redesign this close to the holiday season.

I've still yet to see anything that makes me feel like I want or need a 3DS. The new RE game looks kind of cool, but I still need more than that.

Maybe they will show games that I will actually care about this time.

I doubt it will arrive before the WiiU has established a foot hold, I think in the 2012 holiday season Nintendo will want to focus on selling as many WiiU's as they can WW.

I'm guessing Q3 - 2013 for a 3DS revision in the West, and a earlier slot of Q1 - 2013 in Japan. As far as any revisions aesthetics, I expect it will look like the finalised design of Nintendo's WiiU Controller, but with slightly different control placement.

Cool. Hopefully more first party games.

I have both the PSP and Saturn versions of that game. I don't know about that, this is a scrolling beat-em, not an RPG with wonderful 2D Vanillaware art.

I'm still waiting for the first Vannilaware game on the 3DS, If I had it my way Muramasa would get a 3DS port while we wait for something made from the ground up, alternatively, a port of Grand Knights History would do.

The above games are two random one's that have been announced recently, that's all, I'm confident there's much more to come in terms of quality software.

I don't know how I missed Grand Knight's History! I own Princess Crown and Muramasa, and soon I'll have Odin Sphere to tide me over until that comes out. Thanks for inadvertently telling me about that!

A Muramasa port sounds like a very good idea to me! Add some bonus content, I'd buy it in a heartbeat!

I think they might announce Tales of the Abyss 3DS at this conference. Or, I should say, I'm hopeful!

Yesyesyesyesyesyesyesyes. I seriously hope they finally release a localised Mother 3. And not just a downloadable thing either, I want an actual boxed copy :o

The fanslation that came out a couple years ago is really solid. If you don't feel like waiting for Nintendo to localize an IP they've repeatedly stated falls against whatever image they want to portray for the company.
