    Nintendo 64

    Platform »

The successor to the SNES was Nintendo's entry in the fifth home console generation, as well as the company's first system designed specifically to handle polygonal 3D graphics.

    Just purchased a Nintendo 64 - I never played a N64 game yet...

So I played Everquest for 3 or 4 years and thus missed out on the Nintendo 64 and Playstation era. I LOVE video games! I have a 2 year old boy and I just can't wait to play games with him. So I was at the yard sale and I see a box with a Nintendo 64, a switch (to switch between consoles! BONUS!!) and the following games, Legend of Zelda Ocarina of time and Majora's mask, Mario Party 3, donkey kong 64, etc  Got it all for 15 bucks!!! Sweet!!

Now my intentions were to play this with my son and experience the games together for the first time.... i just don't know how long I can stand not playing these games!!!

That's a damn good deal for that.  Don't forget to get Super Mario 64.

Another suggestion, pick up the original Smash Bros., especially if you want a good game for you and your son.

There's nothing wrong with the system, those games really do look that bad.

Banjo-Kazooie is an absolute must. Banjo-Tooie is cool too.
Star Fox 64 is legendary. A must have.
Goldeneye and Perfect Dark were both amazing games.
1080 Snowboarding was really cool, and Wave Race was too.
Mario Kart 64 was pretty good, but best when playing with 3 others. I don't think it holds up that well, though.
    Paper Mario was a classic.
    Excitebike 64 was fun.
Tetrisphere was a really cool take on the series.
Star Wars: Episode 1 Racer was a great racing game. Star Wars: Rogue Squadron and Star Wars: Shadow of the Empire were good too.

That is a very very good deal, considering Mario Party 3 is triple that alone, but I do notknow if you have made a good choice.
The N64 is my favorite console by far, it has my favorite games on it and is a great multiplayer console aswell. But if you have never played a N64 before the console is not the easiest to go and play for the first time, it's not like the SNES where on that the console does really good 2D and holds up quite well. Most N64 games dont hold up very well due to it being early 3D graphics, and as you have been spoilt with all these newfangled consoles it will be difficult seeing why everybody loved the games. But for your son its a chance to get him to enjoy the N64, you should make sure its the only console he plays for a while. that way, he will enjoy the N64 as its his first experince with it, if you were to get a 12 year old to play a N64 now, they would be like "What the fuck is this shit!"

Your going to have so much fun!
The earlier mentioned are fantastic, which you really should play. Another little gem I do want to add as my personal favorite and especially when you're going to play with your son is Rocket: Robot on Wheels
