    Video Review: ObsCure

*Please note: This review/script was taken directly from the video review linked above :).

Y: All right, let's just make this nice and short. Obscure isn't a good game. Period.

T: Whaaaaat? Of course it's a good game.

    Y: Oh really, how?

T: Well... ummm... that's a difficult one. I mean, it's a good survival horror game.

Y: What are you talking about? Isn't a good game and a good survival horror game the same thing?

T: Okay let's be honest with ourselves here. The term "survival horror" is a stretched out game genre. What exactly classifies a survival horror game nowadays? What exactly needs to be in the game for it to be considered survival horror?

Y: Bad Camera. Terrible controls. Sh*t in your pants jump scares that are caused by bad cameras and terrible controls.

    T: Hahaha exactly.

T: Obscure follows the story of a group of teenagers attending LeafMore High. One day, one of their friends mysteriously disappears after basketball practice so the group decides to try and search for their missing friend around the campus. Little do they know that their beloved high school holds some deep dark secrets.

In shorter terms, Obscure can best be described as a bad teenage horror movie. It's one of those movies that you'd take a date to, and later you decide to ditch because your breath smells like cat sh*t, and you don't want to embarrass yourself because your breath smells like cat sh*t and you know that-

    Y: Okaaay....

T: *cough* Anyways, for better or worse, it has everything that one would find in a survival horror game. Taking a chapter from the original Resident Evil Games, it has everything from limited resources, to bad cameras, to wonky controls, to unresponsive combat.

Y: But. It's these limitations... these gameplay mechanics that allow you to truly experience fear. Like not having enough ammo to kill all the enemies around you, bad camera placement, and monster pop ups that scare the f*ck out of you - THIS is what survival horror games are all about.

T: Obscure pays respect to what old traditional horror games are all about. So if you enjoy many of the old time classics such as the original Resident Evil series, or Silent Hill series. You will most likely enjoy this game.

Y: Not to mention the fact that this is one of the few traditional survival horror games that is actually co-op. (Lifting up person)

T: Exactly. I think that was the only reason why we even got the game in the first place. (Beat down montage)

Well that and also because it had music featured by Sum 41. Man those guys are bad*ss.

Y: Obscure gets 1 melodramatic teenage horror film ... out of 5.
