EA are pure evil, Valve are pure good. Everything is black and white, right and wrong. Wow! Life is so much easier to handle this way.
Except tomorrow I think I will decide that Valve are now evil and Blizzard are the gold standard. Or... maybe I will take the time to decide for myself what I see as acceptable or not. Revolutionary thinking I know.
Everyone needs to know about this invasion of privacy
... All the data collected will be too massive for any person to do anything with, it's all going to AIs which sort anonymous users into categories for likes and dislikes. Unless you're using a service which markets porn, your porn stash couldn't be of less interest to these systems. This is pretty much my opinion on the matter. There comes a point where the data retrieved is so massive that the individual becomes lost in the stream. Your porn folder or stolen MP3s don't mean anything to the company because (a) everyone has something (b) it isn't information they can use profitably. A lot of this type of information is stored by you ISP now anyway and there are government bills in development that would require them to store that information for at least 18 months. The long and short of it is, all the data on your computing habits will outpace anyone's desire to shift through it.
The other day I went to the local Wal-Mart and there were at least 12 cameras visibly watching me. This is the world we live in now.

If you guys forgot, Battlefield 2142 did a similar thing where they collected usage data in order to tailor in game advertisements while playing. There was even a huge slip saying much of the same wording as in that Origin EULA inside of the retail box. While 2142 never really got the advertising attention EA wanted, they still collected that data for a period of time.
@EveretteScott said:Although you're right, I wasn't being totally serious in comparing them. I was more just using the "that's not fair" because that can be used against anything.@iDarktread said:Eh, your example wasn't really comparable to my almost copy paste.@EveretteScott said:I do.@iDarktread said:I don't think you understand the situation at hand.IF YOU DO NOT WANT EA TO COLLECT, USE, STORE, TRANSMIT, OR DISPLAY THE DATA DESCRIBED IN THIS SECTION, PLEASE SKIP BATTLEFIELD 3.
