    As long as you keep the room its in in the early 70s (or 21 Celcius [or 294 Kelvin]) and keep away from trojan filled porn sites you should be good.

    ok i think my GPUs drivers are installed. now to reboot.  
     
    edit. reboot done. the higher than 800x600 resolution is a good sign.

    the 5770 can still run alot of games on high, so it's pretty good. I run JC2 on max everything, so...

    The the AMD proc you have is amazing, i've used that in two of my friend's builds and they just perform like none other.
    Also, you'll be fine with your current graphics card, just be prepared to upgrade in a year or so.

    @Devil240Z: That's not overkill, it's weaker than a gtx260 and that's only mid range. Maybe you should of got a HD5850, look at the benchmarks, you get alot more for your money and it destroys that card. Then again playing at X900 rez, you can use any gpu I suppose.

    @Laketown:

    Max on what resolution and how much anti aliasing? When giantbomb says max, it's usually like medium settings at X900 rez and 30 frames per second.

     
    The real max means at least X1080, 60 frames, full anti aliasing which is a term that the gb community needs to be more aware of since that's what other sites considered maxed.

    @mrhankey: Yeah I know, I'm sure ill have to upgrade in the near future. but thats the future... right now I have a working gaming pc for the first time in 10 years.  and it will be able to run starcraft 2 which is all I really want to play other than indie stuff.

    It's really exciting, huh?  It's so rewarding to see something you've made come into fruition.  The first time I saw the little green light I had a Frankenstein moment and laughed uncontrolably.  But then I bluescreened because the RAM was in the wrong modules.

    @Devil240Z:  Oh Starcraft 2 eh? Well while you are on the pc you should check out some of the PC exclusives (ie: STALKER, Guild Wars...and maybe look into some great indie titles). Just saying, keep your options open, there is a lot to experience in the world of pc gaming.

    well my max resolution is 1360x768 so :p and it usually stays around 50 fps unless I'm recording something. Max AA I think.

    Yeah that card will be no worries at all for pretty much maxing anything if your resolution is below 16x10

    @Laketown: You know that's like way lower of a rez than I expect you to post, I expected you to post at least a X900 rez which is too low. Ever realised that any videocard can practically max out at that rez because it takes almost no power to run? it's not indicative of a good videocard which you are wrong. If you ran it at X1080 or X1200, you won't be able to max out just cause 2. You won't even get more than 25 frames per second with anti aliasing at 1080p.
