The list is fine. But... Omnibus simulator? :S  Edit: remembered those are PC exclusive. Not that anybody cares...

Actually, there are two competing German shovelware companies called UIG and rondomedia. They are cranking out all those shitty simulator games. They are truly the bottom of the barrel. Worst thing is, they frequently appear in bestseller lists despite being torn to shreds by the game press.

    UIG:   http://translate.google.de/translate?js=n&prev=_t&hl=de&ie=UTF-8&layout=2&eotf=1&sl=de&tl=en&u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.uieg.de%2F&act=url
    rondomedia:  http://translate.google.de/translate?js=n&prev=_t&hl=de&ie=UTF-8&layout=2&eotf=1&sl=de&tl=en&u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.rondomedia.de%2Fgames%2Fsimulationen.html&act=url

    WHAT DID YOU SAY!
I will come down there and rip out your throat!
    ....lol, love you too

Omnibus simulator is independent I think. Also I here it's an ok simulator.
    I also recommend Tricky Truck

Because I Only Just Noticed It: Tricky Truck

By John Walker on March 22nd, 2011 at 4:30 pm.

Okay, it’s time to stop. I’ve found the best game ever. And I’ve not even played it yet. The fine Mr Cameron IMs me saying, “Euro Truck Simulator, eat your heart out,” and he’s right. In fact, everything else, eat your heart out. Tricky Truck is a game about driving a giant, heavy lorry across tracks that look like they were built by a Trackmania fan who only had concrete. Oh! It’s from Gravitysensation, the guys who did Sumotori Dreams! Right, I’m going to play it – see if my enthusiasm is correctly placed, or if I was right to be a bit worried by a website that looks like it’s been run through that Geocities filter. (And before anyone says, I know full well that Kieron posted about this last August, but no one took any notice, including me, so I’m highlighting it all over again. And we’ll keep posting it until you care. It’s only your time you’re wasting.)

Hooray! It’s sort of fantastically badly brilliantly good! It’s essentially an elaborate truck parking simulator, but where the roads to the parking stop were designed by Dali. And perhaps most importantly, has levels called Wall Jump and Death Slope. It’s full of drunken physics. And it’s rather fun.

I think what has been most clearly highlighted about this is that I should never, ever be allowed to drive a truck. Or even a car pulling a trailer.

It’s also free to an extent. If you pay you get five more trucks, and a whole bunch more levels. It’s $12.90 for the full thing, or oddly if you only want it for 45 days you’ll only need to pay $5.40. Have a look at a whole bunch of footage of it:

Actually, you know what? Serious answer:

    Minecraft.

If you don't think that is what a majority of PC development is going towards you need to wake the fuck up.
What? What is it going towards? Making novel games in the hope that they explode and make millions? Ok yeah, that sounds about right.

I think he might mean fully dynamic and player-modifiable environments using game mechanic devices, as a course of general gameplay. In which case he would be correct.

No. There is no one game to represent the whole of PC Gaming.

You can't accomplish it with a single game. You need to represent the whole experience:

    Civilization

    Doom

    Counter-Strike

    Elder Scrolls

    EVE-Online or Ultima Online

Starcraft 2. The peak of the RTS genre and one that would be impossible to replicate on another platform without a madcatz branded keyboard and mouse peripheral.

That's tough, I think in general it's gotta be WoW. For me personally, it's Battlefield 2.

I'd say Bejeweled, or anything by PopCap.

Those guys (and Zynga) have the PC market by the short and curlies. To deny it is foolhardy.

    What a weird question.

Hey guys, which film would you name to describe big-screen cinema as a whole? And no, this is not a 'what is your favorite film' question.

I would pick an MMO like Warcraft. Not because they are fun but simply because the few that are on consoles suck and they have such massive communities.

If not then I would probably go with the Half Life series.

    World of Warcraft

Since early 2005, my PC gaming was about MMORPGs. It's just been recently that I'm doing other types of gaming on PC again. Kinda fed-up with the overly long console-lifecycle.

Before World of Warcraft, it was all about Battlefield and Joint Operations and whatnot. Largescale, high playercount, online multiplayer FPS gaming.

I would have to say TF2. It just compassion everything that represents PC gaming to me. It sports a great community that makes great maps, and runs outstanding servers. It is a great looking game, even for being built on a dated engine. The developer, valve, is one of the best in the industry, and the way they support their game is something that is only seen on the PC. The way they have supported the game has literally changed the game from the day it was released to today. The amount of features and content they have added is something most developers do when they make sequels to their games.

The game that best represents modern PC gaming is probably Minecraft. Aside from a few rare examples (e.g. The Witcher 2) the main draw of PC gaming right now is the indie scene. Small teams of people (or even just one person) making something weird, unique and different. That is what PC gaming today is about, more than anything else.

You can't really name just one game, there are a lot of awesome PC games, I think the flexibility of the PC is what makes it so awesome.

I would go with Deus Ex. It truly is one of the best games I played.
