So uh, I've got a confession to make. I mainly created this topic because of how hilarious Yu's face is here.

Persona Q Story Trailer(English version)
Man, I might get used to it, but Naoto's new voice bums me out. Wish it was just Mary Elizabeth McGlynn from the dub of the anime if they had to change it.
@epidehl: Wait is it different? I thought it sounded off in that trailer! This bums me out real bad.

It's pretty noticeable to me. But still sounds like the character should sound, if that makes sense. Naoto kind of has an ever-changing voice throughout Persona lore, it seems :p

Yeah, I mean it doesn't sound bad, just off.
@aegon: I think that's the main character (same voice actor)
And wow, first time hearing Naoto's new voice and it was a lot more noticeable than I thought it'd be.
@johncallahan: @civid: Yeah it was confirmed a bit ago that it was going to be a different person for Ultimax and Q. Her anime VA was even already in the series (she plays the second homeroom teacher) so it sucks they didn't use her for the games. It's a bummer that she now has three VAs across stuff, it's especially unfortunate that this just seems to happen a lot more in dubs (all the Gundam stuff is a goddamn nightmare with their inconsistency of VAs).

But...this is a video game.
He's just supposed to say "Persona!"

I know D:
You know what? Probably the best explanation: I'm wrong and it is Adachi and the entire line was "Leave this to us, bitches!"
Silly me
I'm surprised at you guys being weird about all the voices. It's just a minute and a half trailer, you gotta judge it when you hear the voices for long stretches. Naoto's is definitely different though.
Needs a more equal focus on the P3 characters. That's where my interest lies. I hope Aigis is in the next trailer, or better yet, Mitsuru.
Nooooooooo I didn't realize they were using naoto's post-anime voice, huge disappointment. I'll still play it. But... Man, did we ever figure out the story behind that voice actress, or is she still a mystery?
Original voice actress for Naoto is unknown and will be forever. The new voice actress for Naoto in Persona 4 Arena Ultimax and Persona Q is not the one from the Persona 4 anime (Mary Elizabeth McGlynn) but a new one: Valerie Arem.
So apparently the Persona 3 protagonist talks now? Well that's a bummer, makes me reconsider how much I want to play this now.

What's wrong with him talking?
@frostyryan: it just feels weird to me I guess. I always had my own personal view of what the character was like, so it kind of kills the immersion to seem them give him a different personality than what I imagined.
Maybe I'm just being weird though.
Maybe I'll play this game with Japanese audio. It's sort of bumming me out how many of the original voice actors have been replaced due to various reasons over the years. It's also weird because Naoto's original voice actress totally did stuff for P4A and P4G but not the anime, this, or P4AU. Troy Baker I can understand. Dude is too busy being the protagonist of every AAA video game ever.
Hot damn, there have been a lot of Persona 3 and 4 spinoffs, haven't there? After this and Ultimax, I'm more than ready for an entirely new cast of precocious teenagers to have weird social linking relationships with and would look less charitably on any more attempts by Atlus to milk an already dry cow.
I think the voices are just fine. As long as they're tolerable for 60+ or however many hours this game will be. And from what I can tell it seems they are.
Did Yosuke sound different as well? Is it still Lowenthall?
Yes.
I'm seriously super confused at the amount of people saying how weird everyone's voices sound
Man am I excited for this game. I can't even imagine how many times I've listened to the main theme (remix). It's so good.
The voices of the few characters whose voice actors have changed will definitely take a little getting used to, but by no means is it a deal breaker for me.

This. ^
The only ones that have changed are Naoto and I'm gonna guess Matthew Mercer is still Kanji. Johnny Yong Bosch has always been P4 MC and Yuri Lowenthal has always been P3 MC.
Unless you've only played vanilla P4, this is still all the same people.
@theblue: It's not a complaint to say they sound different though.
I'd say that Fitz is a better Chie than the First Lady, but people flipped out because of narrative dissonance. It helps everyone as a sequel with max continuity, and lots of people got burned before. It's an extremely legitimate concern, especially with the typical care Atlus is known for.
