Honestly Like the phat model more with its glossy coat.

The PlayStation 3 (often abbreviated PS3) is the third home video game console created and released by Sony Computer Entertainment Inc.
Slim or Phat look?
The matte finish is much more functional. Although glossy is better looking, it goes away much faster due to fingerprints and dust.
I like the old version but still, the Slim is very tempting, this was a very good move on Sony's part.
The Phat is nicer and shinier looking though I never liked the font "PLAYSTATION3" on it. Plus that gloss finish means I'm going to get obsessed with getting rid of dust and fingerprints on it.
All in all, the Slim wins me over.
phat looks nice with that glossy black, and the PLAYSTATION 3 logo, but slim looks really elegant, although I don't like the PS3 logo, but still looks sexy.
I like the slim better I guess, but I don't really think either system looks that great...infact I don't think any of the systems look that great...maybe the Wii because I enjoy the shade of blue the LED lights produce...but aside from that I think all the systems are about on par with each other...cosmetically.
" What I am wondering is whether Sony are going to ditch the older design in favor of the new, or will they still offer the two models. "If they do drop the old design, people who like running linux, or uses it as a encoding power house, wont have that feature anymore, as the Slim model is removing the option to install other OS.
" @Mordukai said:I did not know that. Well from that its pretty much safe to say that the old models will still be available." I like the look on both of them. I like the slick chrome shine on the original PS3, but it is prone to many smudges and fingerprints. The matte finish and slim (obviously) of the newest PS3 model is nice, and less smudges and fingerprints are a plus.
It comes down to if I would prefer a more energy-efficient and less weight on my console, along with 40GB more space.. I have a feeling I'll end up going with the latter, mainly because more HDD is nice. Something still just seems weird about the new model, though.
If we are talking strictly design, then I like the new slim look better than the classic "phat" model. Honestly, the glossy coat of the "phat" is a magnet for dust and finger prints. I'd still have preferred if its top was flat, but I guess Sony doesn't want you placing anything (even empty game boxes) on the top. So, there is that. And, this model is going to be lighter and draw less energy. I like both those improvement.
HOWEVER...I have a 60gig launch model with full backwards compatibility. These original skus had all the bells and whistles I wanted and some I've never used, but are available should the need arise. My current HDD is smaller than the one promised in the new slim, but I can switch it out for a 500 gig HDD for less than $100 if I wanted. Overall, I am very attached to my PS3 "phat" and have no intentions on switching over for a purely aesthetic reason.
I love my Phat PS3, and since it got it during the Xmas promotion as an 80GB for $250, I love it more than ever.. Slim is definately not in..
" I prefer the "phat" model simply because it's getting a price drop. :P "I think thats what counts for people who have been on the fence.
I like the original design, but I'm happy the got rid of the spiderman themed logo on the new slim model.
