yo gang- i hereby appeal to the giant bomb community brain-trust for advice.

i'm currently saving for a new pc build- but in the meantime i've conned my friend into giving me his ps3 which he turned on maybe once or twice. i only owned a pc and 360 last gen, so presume i know nothing of ps exclusives. also- the last sony product i owned was a ps1, so cheap ps2 pickups are 1-hundo on the table. also also- a ps4 probably isn't in my IMMEDIATE future so i'm going to prioritize cheap ps3 versions over hd remasters (unless you suggest otherwise). lastly- you can send your multiplat. games straight to HECK cuz i probably visited those on 360 or pc.

so far my shortlist is:

-Metal Gear Solid HD Collection

-Journey

-The Last of Us

-Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch

-Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 4 (ps2 vers.)

-The Ico & Shadow of the Colossus Collection

-maaaybe Ōkami (ps3 remaster)

Valkyria Chronicles, God Hand, Final Fantasy X/X-2 Remastered, LittleBigPlanet 1+2, Uncharted 2, Yakuza games, Demon's Souls, Flower, Resistance 3, ZOE: 2nd Runner HD, The Unfinished Swan, Tokyo Jungle, Wipeout HD+Fury...might as well get MGS4 if you're gonna get the HD Collection

I mean, PS2 games wise, you're limited to the ones on the PSN store but there are some good ones like Persona 3, Katamari, Odin Sphere, aforementioned God Hand, Fatal Frame games, Capcom vs SNK 2, Manhunt

MGSV, Persona 5, Life is Strange

inFAMOUS 1 and 2 were decent club bangers. And also the Ratchet & Clank games that aren't All 4 One.

If you are into the Souls games, Demon's Souls might be worth a go. I have no idea what the online population is at this point, however.

@mellotronrules: Other then Red Redemption I dont have any other games to suggest other then you should pass on the Metal Gear Solid HD collection and get the Metal Gear Solid Legacy Collection which comes with all of those games plus Metal Gear Solid IV and the original Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2 games and a download code for Metal Gear Solid 1.

Uncharted series, demon souls, yakuza series(although i am only on the ps2 games so far), mgs4, infamous.

Although i havent played it, persona 5 is on ps3 if you like that series.

Ratchet & Clank HD Collection and Tools of Destruction & Crack in Time are easy picks.

Ninja Gaiden Sigma (if you never played the original Xbox game), 3D Dot Game Heroes, Puppeteer, MotorStorm series. That's about all I can think of. If you're into JRPG's there's probably a ton to choose from, but I don't really trade in those circles anymore.
