PlayStation Home
Game » consists of 1 releases. Released Dec 11, 2008
PlayStation Home was a social games network where PSN users could play games and socialize. Home saw a refocus in Fall 2011 in North America and Europe that put more emphasis on games than social spaces.
Let's Stay Home Tomorrow
I want to buy a PS3 this month, but I'm still waiting on any word of when a price cut is going to happen to see if it would be better if I wait another couple of months.
I've been in the beta for a while now. It's great for meeting up with friends and then jumping into games and stuff. I like it!
Wait, so people are going to be forced to listen to music they don't like? I guess this could encourage people to come to a compromise and work together so everyone gets a turn...?
Nah.
"This still seems pointless, if I want to meet people id rather go outside :|"its so you can meet people to play playstation 3 with and chat about stuff. and of course if you have lots of friends with ps3's its a great place to chat with them as well. i found it to be much more fun with friends.
People can say what they want about Home but I have to admit that Red Bull aeroplane game looks amazing.
Look, the way I see it is, it's free. How can you complain about something that's free that you only have to touch if you want to?
"People can say what they want about Home but I have to admit that Red Bull aeroplane game looks amazing.word, the shit is free. why even complain if its not for you. i guarantee you though, no matter when you sign on to home theres always tons of people running around.

I thought Home was a great concept but sorely lacked content. Looks like that content is coming. Right on!
Suck it Sony, this will be interesting and all the backlash as to whether this was worth the hype and wait. Although I will say Netflix on Xbox is still better. Like Vinny pointed out yesterday, you can do real things while you have your Xbox pump out 5 seasons of Hercules: the Legendary Journeys
I've been in the beta since November; it's pointless. I bet in the Sony pitch meeting it sounded totally awesome, but in practice it's basically you running around looking at commercials with a bunch of other digital strangers. Maybe it's more practical to communicate with friends if you have a headset or a chatpad, but if you're a PS3 owner without those 2 tools (as I am), it's pretty useless. It also takes some time to load each area, so it's not a seamless experience. I'm curious to see where Sony is going to do with it, though; I'd certainly like it to be better than what it currently is.

I like the idea of a virtual environment to meet up with friends and stuff, could be funny, but given its a virtual environment and they could have let there imagination run wild, the environment looks extremely stale, just seems like one of those hyper-commercial beach resorts which are built in 6 months and lack any real character, am I alone in this opinion?
I'll be there, and when it comes out, it will either be a major disappointment or my next best friend.
Damn. This thing has taken way too long. Granted, I don't have a PS3. But still, it looks still kindof cool.

nope
People keep saying that they'd "rather go outside and meet people", but what's the difference between this and say...posting on an internet forum/comments section of an article? I mean, why don't you just go outside and talk there instead of coming here? Why even use facebook or myspace? It's just a 3D hub for people to meet and play games...
Ever since I saw an advert for a Samsung phone on the walls of a supposedly "grimy rock dive bar" in Guitar Hero III, I've been against in-game advertising. I only really liked the use of billboards in Crackdown to try and shift me a copy of Deathproof. It almost did, but then I remembered that it's shit.
The entire concept of buying a PS3, and having other companies try to sell you stuff through your purchase sickens me.

And let us not forget, I DON'T EVEN HAVE TO GO TO THE RED BULL HOME SPACE IF I'M SO OUTRAGED WITH THE ADVERTISING.It's just a 3D hub for people to meet and play games."Perhaps people can meet up and play games but Home is also the most sickening marketing tool there is..."
Gah did you guys stop watching TV aswell? I mean, advertising seems to get you SO mad. I'm all for creative advertising here. I'll never buy a Red Bull (keeps me awake at night) but I'll happily fly their digital planes.
I honestly do understand the scepticism and the criticism but like I've said a bajillion times already - you don't have to use it. It can sit there on your XMB like your "Life With Playstation" button and you need ever, ever, ever click on it.
I personally am quite excited to see what the likes of Disney etc. put on there.
EDIT: Oh and while I'm here - can I stop hearing this "dud0rz 360 haz Netflix its betterz than bluray" - get with the picture people... most of the world doesn't even have Netflix yet.
EDIT 2: And yes I will continue to keep defending Home because I think people are being unrealistically unfair on it. If Sony were saying this is £9.99, dude if Sony were saying this is £4.99 or whatever... I'd totally not buy it and I'd be outraged. But I repeat again - it's FREE. How the hell can you complain about freebies that you never have to use?
I mean you guys must turn down free promotional items they hand out in the streets too right? "Blatant advertising, ghastly company".
@ jervo - That's what I like to hear, someone who has been using it and has a real opinion. Thank you.
On paper, it sounds like a bad idea. In practice? We'll see. I don't have a PS3 and I have no intention on getting one, yet I'm interested in seeing how this turns out.
If anyone wants me i'll be doing laps in a little Edge 540 . All you nay sayers can go eat a fat one !

Looks like i'm not the only one that can see the forest amongst all them tree's . Cheer's get2sammyb ,... Wanna race haha
I got a beta invite recently, I tried it out to have a look at it. I really couldn't see the point to it at all, its a sluggish experience where you end up spending most of your time looking at download and loading bars. Its just full of adds. In my opinion it was wasted resources and effort, and fails to improve the online experience in a meaningful way.
"Is that superman 64? FLY THROUGH RINGS? Go fuck yourself sony. What good is HOME without Everquest Online Adventures 2, or WoW or Justice League Online? Without MMOs home is pointless nonsense. Weee lets sit around and ask each other R U REEEL GRRRLLL????? TITS!!!!"go fuck yourself sony?!?! what the hell did sony ever do to you?!
